i already bought the service manual to find out how to read the codes.....so then basically i should keep going and start testing all the stuff in the service manual till i find one thats out of whack???

  • suzuki99 Jan 27, 2008

i am not an electrician but i do have the service manual now....so can i test all this or is it best to a pro????the rear is off the tv....

hey also i noticed if i have an input connected to cable it turns off...right now its sitting there with noting plugged in but the tv is on and it still running.....how come it runs if i have nothing plugged into it for picture but it shuts off as soon as i run cable tv with a picture???

  • suzuki99 Jan 27, 2008

if i put a movie on it runs 10 minutes minimum and 30 minutes max....if i dont put anything on and just leave the screen white.....it runs for ever....thats with no rca or coax even hooked....so does it sound more of a precessor issue then???

  • suzuki99 Jan 27, 2008

yes i tried all the inputs on the front and back...coax and rca....i didnt try s video....but if any of them are hooked and playing it turns off after a while.....if nothing is hooked the tv stayd on for ever...

  • suzuki99 Jan 27, 2008

hey i just checked the codes again and sos is 1

the rom corr. check sum: is 8

so im not sure what the number 8 is about....does it mean anything????

  • suzuki99 Jan 27, 2008

is the processor the same as the eeprom????

  • suzuki99 Jan 31, 2008

i bought the manual and brought the tv and manual to get looked at....the guy called tonight...in the manual it is missing a page of the schematics....it is in section 22.9...and its missing 5 of 5....but the page number is 68 then 69 and then 70.....so how can i get that schematics number 5 of 5 so he can continue to trace it???

  • suzuki99 Jan 31, 2008

its in section 22.9 it starts off as 1 of 5 for the board schematics.....its number 4 of 5 that isnt there....but the page number is correct....it goes page 68 then 69 then 70...just like the page isnt supposed to be there....but anyways its section 22.9 and number 4 of 5...

Code 1 is +140 volt.hich means your set is going into protection shutdown to protect the circuitry. If you have soldering skills and testing ability you may possibly be able to do the testing to repair this . It is usually a thermal problem with a trans or diode that loses tolerance when warmed up allowing voltages to increase thereby putting the set into shutdown condition. If you would like the service manual for your model you can get it for 10.99 at the following link. Hope this helps.

Check in the start up circuitry first. chances are you will find it quicker if you check the reulators first for voltages if they are not correct it usually means a resistor or diode may be open. If they are high or non existant off theregs emmitter . Pull the regulator to see if thats open or shorted.

you could have a problem in the signal circuits. when a signal is applied the set goes into shutdown. That sounds like a processor issue. If you arent sure about the diagnosis it may be wise to call in a tech. especially if it is the processor. You would need specialized equipment to diagnose.

It could be as simple as some capacitors. Have you tried to imput a signal through the auxillary inputs such as ant.B ? or are the all having the same symptom?

yes the eeprom is the processor They have to be reprogramed by entering codes.

I just checked did you get an email from service manuals at lycos? It should have been an attachment its 20 MB. Your not limited on attachment sizes are you?

  • Sonny Berry
    Sonny Berry Feb 01, 2008

no they dont download they email everything, usually if the emails dont go through its because the size is too big. i will try to scan page 5 of D board and try to email that to you in a few minutes.

I turn the tv on and I can hear the sound just fine. However, the picture takes about 5 or 10 minutes to show up.

Taking to shop. It was not a projection tv, just a rca 27 inch. Thanks for checking back with me.

How many blinks is it doing? It has a built in self diagnosis code that it will blink. Pause a second then blink again. Count the blinks then let me know.

When the tv shuts done does the power light blink? If so what number does it blink? That will tell me which circuit your problem is in. Notice the number of blinks then let me know. Also what is the model number of your set.
