Intel D945GCZ, PCI-E video card

I have recently bought a used computer with an Intel D945GCZ mobo. Currently it uses its integrated vga, but I would like to increase its 3D performance, so I've decided to buy a PCI-E vga. My problem is that I cannot decide which vga is compatible with this mobo. If I understood correctly this mobo has a PCI-E x16 1.0a slot. I red somewhere, that PCI-E 1.0 and 1.0a slots are incompatible with PCI-E 2.0. Is this true? Can you suggest me some video cards, which are compatible with this mobo (nVidia or ATI, price around ATI HD4850)? Thanks in advance!

Mostly PCI-E now are good vga card, i have a tip for you... there's is a secret between a 512MB & 1GB PCI-E card. With this feature is required a good power supply, like for example I used Power Supply 550watts (original 500watts power supply). This power supply is different from 350watts and 500watts.. Here is a secret buy a 550 watts to boost PCI-E card both 512MB & 1GB. Secretly this performance are based on my own analysis using CPU booster freeware... I'm sure 100% more compatible & perfectly to your motherboard. Just try it at least you have idea where you want to grab PCI-E cards (any Model).
Good luck!

I want to install a graphics card since I updated to windows 7 (which won't allow me to use some programs because it requires a video card). Right now it has a standard VGA graphics adapter but I wanted to...

that's easy, but you never said what "some programs" are
(infinite possibles and high end games worse)
or CAD/CAM or other 3D engineering and rendering progs.?
or top flight, Video Editing? omg.
but if you open said PC and see that mother board
you will see slots, the largest slot is the one
called PCI-e (express)
this PC came with ONBOARD
  • integrated
  • Graphics Processor Intel Extreme Graphics shared video memory (UMA)
the PC is a very old and low performance model.
this old PC has no express slots.
most cards sold now do not use PCI now, only PCI-E
express x16
your computer so old , it does not have AGP slot.
so is a relic.
but there are a few remaining companies that still make them.
even used PCI only VGA cards are hard to find, '
those slots are very slow as is all things there.
and will not ever run fast like a modern MOBO would do !
here is one, but I cant promise your unstated Prog will like it.

No AGP , NO PCI-Express slots at all. just old PCI (x 3)
It runs 32 times slower that slot than any modern PC (express)
1220-q3ynongdx4nnghasmode251e-1-0.jpg do not expect something this old to run modern bloated apps well.
it wont. nor will it ever.

What type of video card can I use on this motherboard? D945GZIS AGP? PCI? PCI EXPRESS?

Your MoBo has (1) of each PCI Express x1 & and PCI Express x16 slots, and (2) standard PCI slots. There are NO AGP bus slots on this board. You'd want to use buy a PCI Express x16 video card instead of a PCI video card due to the better performance offered by the PCI Express cards.

My Dell 0R8060 Motherboard needs a new video card, what are good video cards for it?

Your Dell 3000 SKU 0R8060 motherboard currently uses an "Integrated" Intel Extreme Graphics 2 video card. You can install and use any PCI graphics card listed at the link provided below;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Category/guidedSearch.asp?CatId=28&sel=Detail;55_158_2872_2872
Check warranties when choosing. The more memory the better. You'll also need to enter your bios/cmos and make a change so your MB boots to the PCI port and not the integrated Intel.

256 MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for Inspiron 9400/E1705 Card Failu

Both solutions are wrong. The Dell Inspiron 9400/1705 is a laptop. If you buy a Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for this laptop, you need to buy a Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 motherboard for a discrete video card. The integrated video is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The integrated video has the video chipset on the motherboard and the discrete video (GeForce Go 7800) has the video chipset on the video card.

I have an intel motherboard with a gateway tower and dell monitor. We are getting only slight power to our monitor causing it to lose power after only a couple secondes and the monitor to go orange. I...

It looks like the graphic card is broken on the MB (as far as I can say there is integrated VGA card) or even whole mobo is useless. To test it you need to get some external video card - ISA or PCI based on the specs of this mobo. Connect monitor to external card and see what's there. If it looks pretty much the same way then you can throw away your mobo.

Graphics card problem

Hi rovin,
So you bought an XFX GeForce 256MB video card. You're board has 1 free AGP 8x video slot & 3 PCI (White opened slots).
You mention there is not slot for the new card. (What type of video card did you buy)? PCI-E, AGP or PCI?
The only slot you're board does not have is a PCI-Express.
Look in you're manual on page 1-7 for the location of the AGP video card slot.
94565e6.jpg If you bought the wrong card, exchange it for an AGP 8x or PCI.
The ASUS P5PE-VM uses a integrated Intel® 865G chipset with integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Technology, which uses you're system memory to function.
If you need a manual you can download it from Asus. Click on the link to open to the P5PE-VM download site.

I hope you find this helpful.

Gigabyte onboard vga is not default... no pci card

What you can do here is remove the Battery on your mobo. This will reset the CMOS and then you should be able to access your CMOS as usual. :)
