Have a problem with my parallel port...please help

I have a software key for a cad/cam program that plugs into the parallel port, but every time try and start the program, it tells me it cant find the key. I know you can change the settings for the port in the startup settings, but I dont know which one it is and there are quite a few options. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

thanks, courtney

Enter the bios at startup , F2
go to the section on the integrated peripherals
you may have to change the ports settings to one of 3 choices.

Does the pavilion elite HPE 510 t have a parallel port for a printer?

Parallel printer ports are no longer used.Use a USB port printer, or better yet, a network based printer. Parallel ports are way too slow.

I have a Dell 530 S Dell Inspiron. Its Webcam has stopped working. Any solutions

The very first step is of course to check your web cam connection. Most web cams use the USB port to connect to the PC, so check if your USB cable is properly plugged. For build-in web cams this steps does of course not apply. Many new laptops have a build-in web cam. Also try connecting your web cam directly to your PC instead of through a USB hub (if you are using one).

The next thing is to do is to check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly.

It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem.
Other devices in Windows XP device manager

If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers.

In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.

If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer.

After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation. If your problem is not fixed then you have to buy a new one.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.

Parallel dongle will not work with new system that only has USB connections

The dongle only works with a standard parallel port, not a USB parallel port adapter, It may be possible that a PCI parallel adapter card will work with the dongle. Check it first with the supplier and or software supplier of Designer 1.

How to do to install web cam saic4007/37?

Webcams are usually just plug into a usb port on your computer, older ones prior to usb used a serial port. It's the software that needs instalation, if you didn't get software with it, you can use it with msn mesenger Icq, or any of the popular messenger services, or myspace, any application that uses video will seek out our cam. Also most photo programs and some email programs like comcast have video email, it just finds your cam and you click on the icons.

I can't get my computer to recognize the port that printer is plugged in to. I just bought this printer and it won't print anything. I have tried troubleshooting and the printer makers on line support.

Normally Windows will automatically detected and load drivers for standard, ECP, and EPP parallel printer ports. USB ports used for printers, that's more complicated and often requires that drivers and/or software be loaded BEFORE connecting a USB printer

I have a Roland Camm-1 CX-24 cutting machine that has a parallel connection. I have recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1720 with a Windows Vista OS. I have a USB to Parallel cable to connect the two. I have...

connect the printer and the comp. and boot should recognize the new device.
did you add the plotter to "add printers" and its driver and to the correct port?
make sure your plotter is on and loaded and function key pressed.
also some cable manufacturers supply a download one if need be.
what software are you using? is the software cutter driver set to the correct printer and port?
(by default it never is)!!

I have forgotten my bios password and can't get into my toshiba a135-s2246 laptop

One solution is using a parallel Loopback plug. This is a simple device that plugs into the parallel port of the machine and removes the password when you boot it up.

To make it you will need a 25 pin DB25 plug, take the plug apart and join these pins using some old cable;
Pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, and 18-25

Plug it into your parallel port and boot up your machine, the password should be removed as soon as it boots.

Note: This will work on majority of older Toshiba's (1995 – 2002) and obviously only ones that have a parallel port.

Diablotek radeon 9200 problems.....please help

OK, turn-off the computer, remove and replace the BIOS battery, then start it up with the VGA cable in the onboard graphics port.
Press the corresponding key to go into BIOS setup (Del?) and go to the Integrated Devices menu.
Change the option from onboard to PCI in the Video options.
Exit and save settings. As the computer restarts (you'll have to be quick) swap the VGA cable back to the Radeon's port.
