My solution was to re-load windows XP where the fan rarely goes on. The laptop itself consumes very little enrgy and doesn't get hot. At leat now it doesn't sound like a hair dryer.

Plant Vs. Zombies run in an ubuntu( Linux OS)

I have been installing OS for windows and Linux. But I have a problem running online and offline games in linux flatforms.
I am fond of playing offline games too. Since Our clients in the internet cafe' requests PLANT VS. ZOMBIES game be installed in the other units having ubuntu OS 8.10 client desktops.
Just make sure when you have installed the ubuntu it must be accompanied with WINE INSTALLER in order to run the exe. file of the Windows design Plant Vs. Zombies. Copy the folder of the Plant Vs. Zombies files and then paste it in the desktop or home folder of the Linux OS.
Right Click the exe icon the open it with wine program installer. Then just wait for a while then the Plant Vs. Zombies game will load in a linux Program.

Enjoy Playing Plant Vs. Zombies in Windows and Linux Program.

Good Luck....

What are the issues about Linux Operating System

There are MANY Linux operating systems. The main ones known are Ubuntu, Fedora, PC Linux OS, OpenSUSE, Cent OS, Linux Mint and Debian.

Debian is the mother or what Ubuntu and Linux Mint is built from. Debian is considered to be stable. Ubuntu is also supposed to be stable as is Linux Mint. The advantage of these two are ease of use. Debian, Linux Mint and Ubuntu are using .deb packages for applications to be installed.

OpenSUSE uses .rpm packages. It is also considered as stable, but not as widely used as Debian (and the other two) CentOS and Fedora.

CentOS is mainly used for Server purposes. However, in the installation, there are many types of installation options, including Desktop. CentOS is based on the Enterprise version of Red Hat. This is what mainly more and more websites are running off of as it is extremely STABLE and FAST!! So Cent OS is the free EXACT version of Red Hat. Fedora, is the test bed for Red Hat , carrying the LATEST technology being made available to anyone for free.

ALL of these operating systems, except Red Hat, are for FREE. All applications are for FREE. Just to let you know, Google also is using a Linux version for their phones now as well called Android, which you can also acquire for FREE.

The only disadvantage that used to exists until recent is that you could not play all the latest and greatest games on Linux. Now with Steam, you can play anything.

There is a myth that you could not install Windows applications on Linux. You can use Wine on Linux to install Microsoft Windows Applications. If you are having a problem, you are probably missing some files for wine to make it work properly.

Linux is also being used in cars. Check out Toyota and Mercedes Benz that is using Ubuntu. Linux is big and amazing.

Hope that answers your questions.

How can we have a free OS for my laptop.

There are a large number of OSes which are available for free on the internet . Most of them are linux based , with each having a slightly different interface and a different method to install programs (also referred to as package management) . They are popularly referred to as linux distros. Depending on how old your laptop is, and you requirements, you can choose an appropriate distro . For laptops which have been bought within 3-4 years , UBUNTU ( is a good choice . For new linux users LinuxMint ( is a good option with lots of settings and applications preconfigured . In case it is a old machine and will be mainly used for internet surfing and web based applications then a netbook OS like Joli OS is a good option. These OS offer fast boot times and good web compatibility .
To install any these , you can go to the website and download the OS and burn it to a CD/DVD . Some of these OS can be directly installed without the need to burn a CD . You can also try out these OS without installing . This is called Live-Boot .
I hope this answers your question .

I have OS as windows xp.I have 1 GB RAM.Then I want to install the ubuntu and use it.I dono to install. My friends told that 1 GB Ram can"t access the installation well. Then what is the solution to install...

Hello Sir,

I am sure your system meets the normal requirement for installing and using the Ubuntu OS. So you dont have to worry about the system speed and perfomance. I have also sent you the link to download the latest version of Ubuntu OS 10.4 from the original website. All you need to do is download it and burn that image file using nero or any image burning software to the dvd and boot the dvd in your system and install it.

Toshiba laptop fan speed up and then slow down issue. Feedback

I have a toshiba and that is exactly what the fan is doing to cool off the processor. That is because when you boot XP the fan stops after 30 seconds is simply it has no difficult operation on it. But when you choose to switch on to Ubuntu your fan doesn't stop is because ubuntu requires more air since it has so much effort on its operation. Mind you when you installed ubuntu, it requires larger video graphics memory than the XP OS. Try to execute more websites on different tabs on your XP and you will find your fan will work overtime because you put much required operation for the processor. But to help the fan cools off the internal devices, place cooling pad beneath the notebook so that your PC will be safe.

Dual Booting

possibly by first creating a new partition large enough for Linux OS, but does not solve your problem...try getting a VISTA startup disc from another pc (floppies if you have the drive) and startup from these.
