Am using in my laptop linux os, but its not showing wifi connection in my home,

Linux does not usually play nice with wireless routers, it can take up to four to five reboots to access the router. A trick that I usually do to connect to the router is to join an unlisted network, and use your router's name as the unidentified network name. That sometimes works for me.

I hope this helps!

I don't think you will find a recovery CD but Linux is free to download is suggest using pen drive linux (link bellow) to get the OS you want and the tools you need to make your boot media

If you are looking for a simple install and a easy to use version of linux I suggest Ubuntu (link below) the website comes with simple steps to create a boot CD/USB

When I start up my Toshiba laptop I hear the cooling fan starts running for about 5 - 8 sek. the screen remains black and then the computer switches itself off completely. After abuot 3 sek. the PC is...

Sounds like your OS installation got corrupted somehow. See if you can boot to the recovery/ diagnostic partition if you have one. (On dells it is F8 at startup, but yours may be different). If you can get in there run the diagnostics and see if it finds any problems.
I would also try booting into a bootable version of linux like ubuntu. You can simply download it and burn to a cd, then put that in your drive and boot linux right off the disc. If you can successfully boot that way then you know that your hardware is ok and it is a problem with your OS. If that is the case you need to reinstall windows or try doing a windows repair.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

How to activation camera in ubuntu os

UBUNTU is a linux open source OS. Chances are your camera doesnt have a Linux driver and wasnt designed to operate under Linux. The website the user support community for UBUNTU.. I would post your question there for assistance from someone with a similar model for your laptop. There is also a selection for real time chat support from other UBUNTU users. I have checked DELL website under your unit and it was made to run the Windows XP system so there are no Linux drivers available directly from Dell.

Toshiba laptop fan speed up and then slow down issue. Feedback

I have a toshiba and that is exactly what the fan is doing to cool off the processor. That is because when you boot XP the fan stops after 30 seconds is simply it has no difficult operation on it. But when you choose to switch on to Ubuntu your fan doesn't stop is because ubuntu requires more air since it has so much effort on its operation. Mind you when you installed ubuntu, it requires larger video graphics memory than the XP OS. Try to execute more websites on different tabs on your XP and you will find your fan will work overtime because you put much required operation for the processor. But to help the fan cools off the internal devices, place cooling pad beneath the notebook so that your PC will be safe.

What is grub error 17? how to fix it?

Its GRand Unified Bootloader used in Linux OS.
Normally you get this error when GRUB is not able recognise the partition from which you are trying to boot the system. Make sure the boot partition on your system is recognisable by GRUB (such as EXT3).

You can try to restore the GRUB using the LIVE CD
  1. Boot From Live CD
  2. Open Terminal Window
  3. type >sudo grub
  4. then type : find /boot/grub/stage1
  5. you'll get something like: (hd0, 1)
  6. then type : >root (hd0, 1)
  7. type: > setup (hd0)
  8. >quit
  9. >exit
Remove the Live CD and reboot the system.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Activiton problem

Linux XP has had several reports of problems with activation. Your best bet would be to contact their technical support. Or switch to one of the completely FREE Linux distros. Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint linux, Dream Linux, Mandriva, Knoppix. Are just a few that offer the same simple install interface and hardware support.

Linux XP is a free linux distro that charges you for pre-installing applications like "Wine" that run windows based apps. Wine itself is also free and can be installed on any linux distro.

Hope this helps you out.

Application crash or freeze

If the bottom part of the laptop becomes too hot... the system will freeze itself... that is due to the heat sensor that activates when it reached the temperature limit. Check the exhaust fan of the laptop if it is working... and blowing hot air out.. If not, you need to do something about that, before you fry your laptop....

Hoping a Fixya on that.... Good luck
