Toshiba TW40F80 diode D7702

Your last solution was perfect. However a tiny tag, about the size of a dime, just fell out of the cabnet telling me this is a TW40"F"80. Does your earlier answer still apply. Thank you.

I am still seaching. D7702 is in the +15v pump up circuitry for the convergence output protection. D7701 should be the same , but let me check into it further as D7701 handles the -15v protect crcuit. I will post when I can locate the specs on that diode.

I have a Toshiba HDDR500EO3X...nothing to connect it to my computer and the external port is so small I have no idea what I need to connect to my HP computer

Toshiba, for HP forum, OK.
ahhhhhh its and exernal hard disk drive and chassis.
mine has USB cable and Esata cable and power.
yours has 1 cable new. usb.
what HP computer is it , which one. is it model numbers on the service tag. 1000s of pCs made by HP from 1982 to now, endless list.
i cant guess ever.

500mb (tiny) external drive.
by TOShiba.
listed as obsolete at Newegg. so is not new, (NOS?)

i guess you got it for free? and now the USB cable is missing
that it?
here is one cable, this fits the tiny HDD end
and then fits all PC made, (no dont fit cell phones)
try to know there are many classes of USB connectors
(lots) my guess you lost the comes with it cable
or you PC has no standard full size USB jacks.
some super tiny thin notebooks can not have full sizes USB jacks
so need a special USB mini cable, unseen by me, no help.

Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5518 show black screen

Most probably one of two problems causing this:

1. Replacement screen has bad LED diode (not likely the problem).

2. Either you didn't get cable securely attached to replacement screen or (more likely) the other end of the cable detached from the motherboard when the computer fell and the original screen broke. I recommend carefully rechecking both ends of the cable connection.

Diode broke off board while installing ram. will not boot..size of know the diode is (-) that dash is the size

well (-) is not the size it notifies the negative end of diode and the model number of diode will be very tiny on it, if that is known u can replace it.

Toshiba TW40F80 with convergence problems

That link is pretty good--most of the chips use low value resistors like the ones in the photos--most in this set are 2.2 ohm--check like checking a fuse.

1.) Some notes for you:
a) go into the customer menu and see if convergence is skewed and will not adjust.
b) if you replace the chips look at all the blue resistors in the photo--info for this model indicated all are 2.2 that you need to worry about.
c) use liquid solder flux before you try to unsolder them and clean the board after with acetone or denatured alcohol--remove all the old white heat sink grease and clean also.
d) apply fresh compound before you install the new chips--you have some choices--the reason the chips fail is the grease dries out but if you want to upgrade a little--use STK-392-150 CHIPS--same part but longer lasting.
e)DO NOT REMOVE 20 PLUGS TO GET AT THEM--GET THE CHASSIS IN THE SERVICE POSITON--yes, you will have to remove a few plugs and let some wires out of places where they are bundled--keep it simple--
f) use a good soldering iron at least 40 watts and do not force or apply too much heat when you un-solder and then re-solder.

The reason you want to use the liquid flux along with a wick is this set uses lead free solder--does not like to be removed--apply it before you solder the new chips in.

If you miss any bad resistors you will have the same problem you have right now--in these sets when they open they usually look perfect.

I have fixed hundreds of sets with this kind of trouble--not hard and much cheaper than having a shop do it--there is good seller on Ebay I buy from--a pair of the 150 chips is about 12 dollars--6 month warranty.

If this info helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Toshiba tw40f80 cannot adjust green and blue

ok, if you do have a sound problem it is separate from the convergence trouble; this set uses two STK-392-110 ic's. you need to change both and any of the resistors near them that may be gone or open---then adjust the set with the original remote--you can do the adjustments in the customer menu or if needed in the TECH menu-I can tell you how to get into that menu--if you have no sound from the speakers in the set that is a separate issue.

I do this here for free--if you have questions or need help reply here--if this has helped you give me a vote here.

Most of these sets with a convergence problem just need the two chips replaced and the set adjusted---you can buy both chips on Ebay for less than 14 dollars plus shipping.

Toshiba tw40f80, replaced both convergence ic's, power light still blinks

Solder yoke plug and vertical IC connections.....try again.
Let me know.....T.

BTW....Tosh recommends STK-392-110's replace with -110T's
Toshiba OEM.....then there is no question about resistor value
change......

No pictures and no sound on Toshiba TW40F80 television

Check soldered-in micro fuses in power supply. Ex.--F851,F852.
If there is a blown fuse, identify which B+ circuit it protects.
Most common - convergence IC's bad===replace.
