Question about Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Dryer Filter The dryer filter for this unit is of a poor design. A large amount of lint seems to bypass the filter and accumulates below in the dryer and some is being expelled out the vent tube located outside.

This is true of all models the lint screen cant be made to tightly woven if it was it would block the airflow too much making the dryer to take forever to dry the clothes.

Has anyone had problems with lint building up inside samsung DV330AE dryers

talk with a service agent , but by design the only way lint can get out of the unit is from a badly fitted lint filter
the air is blown into the dryer tub and exits through the filter to the vents
there may be a recall on the units so calling and talking will get an exact answer

DRYER seems to blow a lot of fuses does one fuse run dryer and the other for heating element? dryer will run BUT not heat up

The typical reason several Thermal fuses(motor circuit) or Thermal cutoff (heat circuit) will go out is because or poor air flow so what needs to be checked it for lint build up in the filter housing below the lint filter and/or a chrushed or blocked venting from the back of dryer all the way to where it goes outside

Lights turn on but dryer wont start

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Let us know if the problem is not addressed above but indicate the exact model number of the machine for further advice.

Lint is getting passed the filter into the exhaust duct, even though the filter is always cleaned out. The lint accumulates in the lint exhaust pipe that runs to the back of the machine, and then into the...

Some lint will always get by the lint screen on ANY dryer. None of these screens are perfect and, YES, this is normal. This is why a routine inspection of the dryer exhaust ducting and internal cabinet are recommended about once per season to ensure the dryer remains running efficiently.

However, there are some things to consider when it comes to dryer ducting installation. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574332-dryer_ducting_installation_advice

Most excessive lint problems are a result of improperly installed dryer exhaust vent ducting. An excessively long run causes more resistance on the blower motor which will reduce its ability to sufficiently push all the lint out of the exhaust. Each bend in the run also creates choke points where lint can potentially accumulate.

The following link can give you some additional pointers on dryer heating efficiency:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

You may or may not be experiencing poor efficiency, but if you are getting excessive lint build up, it will eventually lead to longer dry times and a dryer that will actually overheat to the point of failure. Excessive lint build up is also a fire hazard.

You will experience this problem with ANY dryer as the performance of the best dryer will alway depend upon how well it is installed. This is not to imply that you have done a poor job in installing your appliance. I'm providing this information to give you some things to consider. Most consumers are not aware of the fact that they still need to perform routine maintenance on their appliances to make sure they run efficiently and problem free.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know, I hope this information is helpful to you.

Kenmore series 90 electric dryer: exhaust air is

that's normal, obviously you haven't cleaned out your dryer and vent line, nobody ever tells the customer when you buy your dryer that it should be cleaned out at least once a year so you don't have a fire more so if it's a gas dryer with an open flame inside the dryer, you gotta vac out the inside where the motor is,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and blow out the vent line,i use a leaf blower to clean out the vent line, take it off the back of the dryer, stick the leaf blower in the line if it's a long run if it runs through the wall and to the outside flapper and blow all the **** out of it,also if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow off the motor, you won't believe how much lint comes off the motor even though it looks clean,so vac out the inside of dryer, clean out the lint filter duct and blow out the vent line

Dryer takes longer

You need four things, each in the right amount to effectively dry clothes: Heat, Airflow, Tumbling and Time. The first two account for probably 90% of dryer problems. It looks like you almost ruled out #2 but this design likes to build lint up in the filter housing below the filter. Shine a strong light down into the slot where the filter goes. Pick out any clumps with a refrigerator coil brush and a vacuum. To rule out not enough airflow due to long vent etc. run one load through with the vent totally disconnected and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise we'll asssume the drum tumbles and that you're setting it for enough time. Check the temperature is left. You can get a rough idea of the drum temp by using a meat thermometer in the exhaust duct. Normal range is between 140-200 degrees.

LG Tromm dryer now takes two cycles to dry a load

The problem with the LG tromm dryers are seemingly two fold.
1. The dryer stops heating and drying the cloths. I found out AFTER HAVING IT SERVICED TWICE AND WAITING A MONTH FOR A NON ESSENTIAL PART. The problem turned out to be the dryer vent going from the wall to the outside was severly clogged. Once this was corrected the dryer worked great.

2. The second issue probably is a design issue in that a large amount of lint seems to get by the lint filter and ends up in the vent that the dryer is connected to and goes out side the house. In my case I have a long dryer vent imbeded into the wall to the exterior, in a shorter vent this probably wouldn't be an issue.
