Question about Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Dryer Filter The dryer filter for this unit is of a poor design. A large amount of lint seems to bypass the filter and accumulates below in the dryer and some is being expelled out the vent tube located outside.

Re: Dryer Filter

This is true of all models the lint screen cant be made to tightly woven if it was it would block the airflow too much making the dryer to take forever to dry the clothes.

Why am i am getting lint on my wash, what can i do to prevent this? Spinning causes lots of lint to accumulated in the drum holes.

Clean your filter. Are you talking about your washing machine or dryer? If dryer, clean lint filter after every load. Also you should immediately check to ensure your exhaust hose is not clogged with lint. Also look at the exhaust opening outside your house to see any visible signs of lint. If you have lint that is accumulating in the house it can cause a fire. Check this!!!

We have a combo dryer and washer. Washer is A2444330KH. Leaves lint on cotton shirts, have cleaned the filter no help. Any ideas? David

Dryer lint not only presents a problem by cluttering up your clothes with white specks, but it can also lead to a dryer fire. While it is impossible to completely eliminate dryer lint, you can take action to drastically reduce lint and the potential problems that come along with excess dryer lint. If your clothes take more than one cycle to dry, you see no lint on the lint screen, the clothes are very hot after drying or you find excess lint on the clothes after drying, you probably have a problem with accumulation of dryer lint in the dryer vent.
Use a dryer vent cleaning brush and clean the dryer vent, or hire a professional to clean the exhaust vent behind your dryer. If your dryer vent is clogged, it will create excess dust in the dryer and on the clothes. The excess lint can eventually catch on fire given the heat load of the dryer.

Red light on,check filter

Is this a ventless dryer? I.e. a condensing dryer?
If so, there is a filter that filters the lint out of the water in the condensing unit. Check your owner's manual to find out how to service this. It is usually a little door on the front, bottom of the unit.
If it is not a ventless dryer, then the only filter I know is the lint screen.

Good Luck!

The secret to great dryer performance is air flow. Fresh air must enter from the rear of the dryer through the vents and exit through the exhaust. If this flow is compromised it will increase the dry times. The length and condition of your exhaust vent would be the first place to check. Some of the industry have said that if you use dryer sheets the lint filter could be plugged from the wax used in dryer sheets. This idea is not industry wide. If your lint filter apears to have a white color across the mesh, then it is plugged. Warm soapy water and a soft brush will clear your filter. Your dryer was designed to have a certain amount of cubic feet per minute of air flow. Anything that changes that will effect your drying cycle time. Lint build up inside the dryer can also restrict air flow. A back up of hot air will cause the thermostats to cycle off prematurely. It can also cause the the drive motor to over heat, the thermal overloads on the drive motor will kick out and keep the dryer from restarting again until the motor cools off. A loud buzzing noise or a lack to start or both can mean a bad motor.

Try checking the back, there is a plastic tub that is connected to the drying system and it can get clogged with lint etc. It will also cause the unit to give you longer drying times. It is a poor design. You can also pop off the lid to get a better look but make sure you unplug the unit.

Increased drying time; removal of lint behind tumbler ???

I have a top loading Kenmore High capacity dryer that is over 10 years old, it has been working very well, unfortunately when cleaning the lint filter my wife dropped a piece of paper down the lint duct hole. The paper evidently fell to the bottom of the lint duct. I am unable to reach the paper from the top of the dryer where the lint filter is inserted. The dryer now makes a grinding type noise when it is turned on. Can you tell me how to reach the paper and remove it

No air blowing in dryer

These dryers are not much different mechanically then Kenmore 4-wheel units. One common problem I've seen with this design is lint buildup in the lint filter housing. Along with cleaning the entire machine and vent system regularly you can use a vacuum with crevice tool to get most of it. To clean it throroughly remove the front panel and two screws holding the filter housing near the top.
Remove the wire from the sensor on the upper right and lift the housing up and off the clip below. Another possibility is a problem with the blower. reach in from the vent and make sure its intact
