Question about Dynex DX-E401 Router

1 Answer

No connection I have a Dynex - DX - E402 wired router connected to my pc. I'm using it to connect my PS3 and computer to the internet. It was working fine but then stopped. Before I was able to connect to the internet with my computer and use my PS3 to play online games, then it just stpped working. I can't connect to the internet with either system, I tried resetting the modem, router, PS3 and computer but still nothing works. If I plug the modem directly into the computer I can use the internet. Pleas help me ?

Try resetting the router to factory , should have a button on the back to do this .
you will have to log back into it with the default factory password
see their site for more info.

The router may be fried , the front panel lights should give you some indication if it is working at all,
I assume you have the wan on router connected to the wan on modem.

And a side note don't just push the reset on router , push and hold it at least 20 seconds.

After connecting my Dynex DX-E402 wifi router to my desktop computer and running the Quick Setup on the router website I still cannot connect to the internet nor will my Netflix-ready DVD player connect to...

Typically wireless routers have one port labeled WAN and four additional standard network ports. The WAN port should be connected to your broadband device, typically a cable modem or DSL modem. You can configure your router with a direct connection to any of the standard ports connected to your computer. Your router must be configured to DHCP automatically with its connection to the modem through the WAN port. So to repeat, outside world to MODEM, then WAN port on router, the wired or wireless connection to your computer.

How to connect a dynex (dx-e402)router to linksys (befsr41) router

Configure the dynex on another computer that is not connected to the linksys router.
Assuming that your linksys is currently setup as
Turn off DHCP on the dynex and setup the IP to subnet mask gateway
use a cross over cable and plug each ends to the LAN port on port routers.
you should now be able to ping (dynex router) from your other computers on the linksys router network.
any computer that is connected to the dynex should be able to get a dhcp address from the linksys router.

When i connect my modem directly to my computer i get internet access. when i connect to my dynex router, i get no access on my computer or xbox

You can go here and download the quick setup guide and manual for your router which will walk you through the setup.

The most common reason it won't connect is that you must have the router's IP number (the one listed as default IP in the manual) set as the GATEWAY address on your computer network settings and your xbox settings, otherwise they can not talk to the router.

Can  Dynex 4 Port Router DX-E402 be used to connect internet on a notebook without using cable to notebook?? i.e. Can it be used like a wireless g router??

Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:
