Question about Harman Kardon AVR 500 Receiver

1 Answer

Neither my Harmon remote or my Logitech universal

Neither my Harmon (AVR 500) remote or my Logitech universal remote will work properly - checked both with new batteries and the universal controls all other equipment. Any advise welcome (Is the IR receiver possibly a problem ?) - Thanks John

Use the help function on your Logitech remote.
Need more information on specific problem to go much further.
Check for tight speaker connections on back of receiver.
Some units have fault sensing; causing 'drop out' preventing A/V receiver from turning out. Typically this is characterised by a clicking sound after receiving an IR signal.
Using high volume levels can affect speaker connections, especially at the back of the A/V unit connectors and banana speaker wire connections.

Hi i am trying to source a remote for an avr-1803 reciever can you help

Did not see any original remotes available anywhere such as on EBay, but here is a similar one available.

Otherwise, just pick up a high quality Universal remote like a Logitech Harmony which can control any device with just a bit of programming. These units are not cheap though, the really good ones run for more than $100.

How can i make the sky remote control th avr 130 (harmon kardon)

Does the sky remote have a code for the HK receiver? If it does, use that code to program it. Most other remotes won't work completely because this receiver uses a seperate button to turn it off...

..or you could buy a universal remote, like Logitech Harmony xx. Denon also makes a universal remote, but it is pretty expensive and not as easy to program as the Harmony.

Need starchoice codes for Karman Kardon AVR 220

http://www.starchoice.ca/english/customercare/techcentral/remote_controls.asp

Look here for the codes to whatever remote you have. The chances are there arent any though. Harmon Kardon codes are a very unique signal that most remotes cant duplicate. More than likely you are going to have to use the original Harmon Kardon remote.

Harmony remote with Harmon Kardon receiver

HK AVR 347-I took it back- everyone was frustrated and the verdict was that it just doesn't work. I have a Dennon now and it doesn't sound as good as the HK but it works most of the time. Not sure it the Harmony is the problem. I'm reading the Dennon manual now and it seems the Dennon remote can do what the Harmony is trying to do. Harmony support is awesome and we'll keep trying. Sooo- was there a trick to it?

Was using the harmon kardon avr 225 receiver and the front panel went out. .... screen display of the channel number, volume, or menu item does not work. ...

Try hooking up a yellow video wire from the back of the AVR 225 Monitor out. Should be at the end of the 7 or 8 yellow video ports on the back of the stereo. Next plug the other end into a yellow video in on a t.v. Get your remote, (Harmon/Kardon) and make sure the t.v. is on the correct video input and hit the OSD(on screen display) button on your harmon remote. There should be a setting in there that says VFD under ADVANCED menu option that allows for turning the front of your stereo lights on and off and dimming them half way also. OFF/HALF/FULL are the 3 options I believe.

If this doesnt solve it your display may have crapped out on you.
