Question about Samsung HCN653W 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Tv repair? Is it worth taking a 65 inch television that has been in a bar to get repaired. The picture is wavey when you turn it on and it gets better if you let it warm up. There is also the espn logo visible in the lower right hand corner.

The waviness is most likely a weak capacitor or leaky diode in the deflection circuit. The logo is burned into the tubes phosphorus from being left on the espn station all the time. That would require new tubes or have yours rebuilt either way that will be expensive. Repair the waviness should not be that expensive I would estimate a shop charges tobe between 150 and 300 depending on where you have the repairs done. Hope this helps.

you may be able to locate a used tube array on ebay for 100 or so. New tubes would cost about 250 each. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything further. I may be able to find a link if you would like new tubes.

I would check on ebay for some used tubes. I have purchased quite a few and paypal and ebay offer buyer protection the tubes I bought have all been good. People sell them out of dead sets. I will also try to post a link where you may be able to purchase some new ones

My 32inch tv turns on but the picture is wired.

On a 32 inch it may not be worth fixing--not going to be a reset etc--base decision on fact that possible repair should not exceed used value of set--which in my view it likely will.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65869 65 in. Rear Projection Television and it has created a wavey line and has distorted the image. i have a picture of it i can send. Any help. i can send pictures of screen.

If you see separation of colors (red, green) in this wavey line most likely you have problem with convergence circuit. Two convergence amps have to be replaced. They located in a middle of the TV boards attached to big aluminum radiator and they part number starts with letters "STK".
I would recommend to let professional with this repair. Should cost you about $250-$300.

Same blinking problem with my 55" HD 1080 Series TV.

That model Mitsubishi is a 65 inch set not 55. And if the blinking you are talking about is the Power LED continually blinking green and otherwise dead it is because the digital module is not booting up. I have repaired many of them and this is done by replacing components in the digital module. Average repair cost is around $200 to $300 depending on where you live. That particular set is well worth the repair. If yours is a 55 inch instead the same still holds true.

Some things are better to have an in-home TV repair man come and look at. This is defiantly one of those occasions. Check to make sure all your cables are secure. Trade inputs with your devices such as your DVD player, cable box, ect. If you are still having a problem call a repair man.

No vertical drive?? Quarter inch wide bar of light from side to side.

At nearly 5 years old its probably better getting a new TV, not only will you be getting much better new technology but paying for repairs on a tv that could breakdown again in 3 months and cost even more.

Well, thats 12 years ago...and in human years that a blink of an TV years, its a lifetime. It sounds as though the power supply is leaking AC into the circuits.
That being what. The reason that TV repair shops are dropping like flies, is that there is no way to make money in TV repair. The local repair shop here charges $75.00...JUST TO DO A QUOTE. Now, I can mosey down to Wal-Mart, and buy a really nice TV for around $150 that is bigger, and looks better than my dead what are MOST people going to do. Ok, I know...a wal-Mart TV isnt probibly going to last as long as your old a matter of fact, it will probibly last only about 4-6 years, but, it costs probibly a quarter of what you paid for your original TV, and only a bit more than you will pay for your TVs repair.
Even a small repair is going to take 2 hours, and at 35-45$ a just aint worth it. As well, to keep costs down, most manufacturers are dropping any sort of parts support, or tech support, so specific parts are getting impossible to find.
....its a whole new world...electronically that is!

Wavey Picture

The hyper or scan converter module is bad in this set. You can certainly have this set repaired and will run about 275 to 350 depending on where and who does the repair. Good Luck
