The light by the learn button may be sending a diagnostic code. See if it is flashing a number of times, pausing and then repeating. Count the flashes. Is your door stuck in the open posititon?

You don't say but I am going to assume the door is stuck in the open position. Loosen the chain enough to relieve the tension on the trolley. Now run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

If it is flashing 5 times and pausing and then repeating you most likely have a bad RPM sensor board which is a small printed circuit board near the front of the motor.

Each one has a small light that should be lit and not flickering. Both lights will only be on if they are properly aligned. If the main light is not flashing then you probably have a problem with the RPM sensor which is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor. Usually when this is bad the small LED near all those white wires will be flashing 5 times then pausing and repeating.

The code it is sending by flashing 5 times is 'RPM sensor or motor overload'. Is the door stuck in the open position?

In the manual it says if you can hold the wall button down & door closes. You have a short in the wiring to the reciever eye. Try substituting some new bell wire in its place, or test the wires for continuity.

The gear needs to be changed kit #41c4220a. Be sure to change the bottom bushing on the motor mount.

UNPLUG THE UNIT FOR ABOUT 5 MIN. TO RESET TRY TO OPERATE IF IT STILL MOVES 6-8 INCHES AND FLASHES 5 TIMES THE RPM SENSOR IS YOUR PROBLEM - COULD JUST BE THE CUP HAS MOVED ON THE SHAFT. IF IT IS IN PLACE AND STILL NOT WORKING REPLACE THE PICKUP.
