Question about Dell Inspiron 8500 Notebook
I recently updated my laptop from XP to XP Home edition. But when i turnde on my computer there's no sound. I tried to connect to the internet to download the latest drivers but i couldn't connect at all. I then looked at my device manager and the following things are yellow with a big explanation/question mark next to them:
1. Ethernet Controller
2. Multimedia Audio controller
3. PCI Modem
4. Video controller (VGA Compatible)
I'm guessing that since i installed home edition its updated all the drivers for everything except the hardware listed above. I have tried repairs using the XP Disk but with no success. If anyone knows what to do or the exact links to update these drivers it would be greatly appreciated. (I am posting this of my other pc)
I will try. First, upgrade xp to xphome? I think XP home is not an upgrade from anything except maybe Win Me or 9x. As far as I understand it, XP home is the lowest flavor of Win that is currently being supported. That being said, Heres my idea.
I don't know the type of lap you have so I cant look for it myself but if you go to your manufactures web site you should be able to find updated drivers for your Laptop. Usually it can be found under the heading "support" or "downloads". They will ask for your model # and then provide you with a list of drivers and such. If you include your Make and Model# I can help further. But I bet you just the need to update the drivers.
