you may find that the footpedal is faulty however there is a place on your footpedal where you can adjust the speed.. or sensitivity it takes a small screwdriver, have alook at your pedal is there a tiny screw or little hole maybe a plus or minus sign on it
i believe you need to break that circut
if you cant find the working foot pedal
maybe you could use a tattoo machine gem footpedal
they are breakers fairly cheap online and very manuverable when in tight spaces....
It's possible that there's a broken wire in the cable that connects the foot control to the machine. This usually happens near the plug that plugs into the machine, or by the end that goes into the foot control.
You can usually duplicate it if you put the auto-backspace up a bit and then hold down the play pedal on the foot control. While holding down the play pedal, try moving the cable near the machine or near the foot control in a circular motion. If the machine stops, rewinds or fast forwards, then odds are that the problem is with the cable.
Hello the SONY BM-147 Does Not have that Letter or secretary function to me is probably the you are using the original SONY FS-75 pedal and is really common the when the pedal brakes it goes to all the way to beginning you can try to unplug the pedal when is rewinding if when you unplug the pedal the unit stop you need to Buy a new Pedal you can find one at http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-Sony-IN-75-Heavy-Duty-Foot-Pedal---Pre-Owned__ECS-PIN-75.aspx or go to their site www.tvps.com for more options
If your cassette stops but the counters keep rewinding the left hand rewind spool is worn. This is accessible from the top by carefully removing the little washer/clip and inspecting the drive hex.Parts may be a problem although this is not that common a fault in a bm246. If the counters stop along with the cassette there is a drive problem in the deck and you are is deep****. If the B deck is the sad one the machine may have been used with a footpedal as a transcriber. The decks are interchangeable however and with a bit of care you could get a usable machine.. just unable to rewind the bad deck. Good luck.
It sounds like you have a wire off inside the footpedal. If it won't work when you press it but, it will start on it's own, the wire is bouncing around inside the foot pedal box. It should either clip onto or be held in place by a screw. Other than this, it could be a broken wire, most likely where the wire comes out of the foot pedal, but this probably isn't the problem or, you need to call Ghost Busters.
If you cannot play, rewind or fast forward, but you hear a light "click" coming from the cassette compartment, then more than likely you have a broken drive belt, or the circuit controlling the play and/or rewind/ff mechanisms are out. In either case it sounds like you need to send it in or take it somewhere for repair.
