Samsung Refrigerator SR-608EV with water dispenser

Aquired this fridge when I bought the house, has been running fine until last week when the door alarm started to sound every minute even though the fridge door is closed properly. Even holding in the door button doesn't seem to work and also the light has stopped working at the same time although the bulb is in tact. I switched it off at the mains which seemed to reset everything but as soon as i opened the fride door again the problem was back.. Any ideas as to the problem or how can I turn off the alarm till I can get someone here to sort it out as it's driving us all knutz!

The problem has been fixed and it turned out to be the main door switch, this has now been replaced and it works perfectly! Many thanx to all who took the time to post a solution, very much appreciated :)

We have a similar problem. The upper part (refrigerator) light went off yesterday. We tried replacing the bulb, but it makes no difference. We think it is the sensor button, because the fridge no longer beeps when the door is left open. We are looking for tips on how to fix the sensor. Any suggestions?

Our Samsung refrigerator is brand new -- the light wasn't on when the installers were here, and I asked about it. He said that Samsung had a "light timer" that when the refrigerator door is open for a few minutes the light would automatically go off. He said it would come on. HOWEVER, our light has never even come on ....

I also have a Samsung Refrigerator the model is SRL550DW, the alarm constantly goes off, the light does not work after I open the door (yet it works when I turn the power off then back on), and the fridge no longer gets cold but the freezer works fine.

There is another sensor in the door that senses how far open the door is. look for this and see if its disconnected or broke

We had this problem when it was first delivered. We unplugged the refrigerator and then plugged it back in and the light worked.

Door dispenser drips

I am assuming when you say the door dispenser drips, that you mean the water dispenser. I had the same problem with my Samsung fridge Freezer, it just turned out to be that the water pressure from the tap supplying the dispenser was turned up too high, the advice I was given (from an engineer) was to turn down the pressure a little then run the dispenser for approx half a litre, then let it sit for a while to see if the drip continues, if it does, try again, it took a few adjustments but we're running fine now, but don't forget, it's normal for a dispenser to drip once or twice after its use. Good luck.

Before you call for severcie you should run about 1/2 a gallon of water through the system to make sure the it is cleaned out and no air bubbles in the system. But if you do that and it still doesn't correct itself, then YES - call for service.

Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,

Water dispenser inside fridge does not dispense water

Are the water inlet / outlet correctly fitted onto the filter ??
Sounds silly - but very easy mistake seen several times.
Is the water supply for the filter turned on . . remove hoses from filter to verify. - YOU WILL GET WET.

Broken water dispenser

hi tbag-1, you can check the solenoids at the rear of the refrigerator, one of those two is for the ice maker and the other one is for the water dispenser. check for continuity of the coil after you have pick which one is which. or you can check for presence of voltage if somebody is pressing on the switch at the front of the door.if there is no voltage, then the problem could be in the micro switch at the door. it is just a little bit hard to replace it.

i hope i was able to help
