I'm working with a customer who has a dell optiplex gx280 and JPEG and gif files won't open when she tried to download them from her email to view ...is there a quick fix for this?

Yep, sure is, she needs to change what her default program that JPEG and GIF images are associated with. Trying walking the customer to right click on the image they are trying to open and click on properties and change the default program that the file is associated with. The most basic program to view images for older windows operating systems is Preview.

Cant open jpf file

Successor to the .JPEG image format; may incorporate lossy or lossless compression; supports image transparency, and additional metadata information; can be viewed with QuickTime Player 7 or later and with Photoshop if the JPEG2000.8bi plugin is installed.
Most JPEG 2000 images have either a .JP2 or .JPX file extension. You can also convert the .jpF to a JPEG using this free software Tick Here please.

My picture will not open when I double click on it. I am using windows XP and usually double click to open my pictures in Nero Photo viewer for editing, now it says ''cannot open''

try right clicking the pic and choosing "open with" then choose a diffrnt imaging program such as microsoft image and fax viewer (default windows Jpeg) if it still doesnt open in that then the picture is probably currupt

you need a photo recovery program like asoftech photo recovery, I used the program before, quite easy to use and recover lost photos for me, download it from

Jpeg 2000 format reader

1st and Foremost! An unexpected file attachment in email is often virus or malware loaded. If you're sure you want to, here's some info:

Jpeg 2000 is another image format specification developed by the JPEG group (Joint Picture Experts group) It's a more compressible and potentially higher quality image/picture format. Common file extensions include J2k and jp2.

In order to view JPEG2000 images, you'll need to obtain some software that supports this format. There are likely many references to available software, you'll have to determine your needs and which particular software that you prefer.

I have old jpg picture files from 1999 that can not be viewed

go to control panel>>folder options
go to 2 tab "view" uncheck the following:
Hide extensions for known file types"
apply and OK
take a look the JPEG that you are trying to open. make sure they have only one extension.
example: xxxx.jpeg not xxxxx.jpeg.tiff or any thing similar to that.
if you still having problem
go to the buttom of the page and download the image editor

Caanot play CD-R/DVD-R burnt from PC

First check that in your user manual that the dvd player is JPEG compatible. When you say you are having the problem on other DVD's do you mean when you use DVD+R and DVD-R disks on your own player or that yu have tried to play the same DVD disk on other brand DVD players without success? You dont mention which software you are using to save your JPEG's to Disk or whether you can in fact view them on your PC. After making sure that your Windows media player displays your pictures ok, Try using the NERO dvd burning Rom programme to load your JPEG's. I am assuming that you are not trying to record a DVD in a CD burning drive? hope this helps - hattonhall
