Possibly the heat sink has insufficient thermal coupling compound. I had a similar problem on mine and after opening the subwoofer and having a look about, I resoldered every cold solder joint I could see, and there were quite a few. I don't know if that fixed anything, but while I was in there I pulled off the heatsink which is held by 5 or six screws, cleaned off the generic white heatsink grease and replaced it with artic silver or some similar metallic paste.

I slipped it back together and hooked all the wires back up and so far it sounds like new. I'm on track 5 of U2 Achtung Baby, and I'm amazed at the clarity. It sounds better than when I bought it brand new.

I'll run it for an hour or two and see if any problems develop.

Good luck, your mileage may vary.

Philips HTS 6600/12 Home Theatre System HDMI does not open the DVD door.

DVD sledges work by a rubber belt that in your case might have broke or come off. It's very easy to replace. Find the original belt. Measure the diameter in MM (approx) and do a Google search for "Drive belt XX MM".
Get the nearest to your size.

Is my tv audio doomed or will the home theatre system work anyways.

some devices these days have a built in volume control, try using your remote for which ever dvd player or satalite bix you use, on push the volume up button on it while you have the volume on the tv maxed out so that you will be able to tell a defference if it works or not.

Philips Home Theatre System - no sound or power light on sub woof

reset the device to factory settings, it is written in your manual how to do this. If that doesnot work, unplug the powersocket for about 30minutes, it will cause an internal reset which might solve it.

I had this same problem. All I did was switch the sound type by repeatedly pressing the "SURR." button on the bottom left corner of the remote. Usually after 10 times the sound is back,

Home theatre but TV without audio outlet

I would suggest that you smash
Philips HTS w/a hammer!
I had better sound from TV alone! Only 2 speakers put out sound from TV. Recordings from DVR can not be heard very well w/all volumes at max. System sucks! You get what you pay for! $2500 LCD TV sounds worse w/Philips HTS than my son's $300 TV! ALL cables hooked up as instucted!!!!
