Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Short circuit Help! my machine trips the fuse when operated, seemingly only on programme '3'. I have disconnected drive motor and water pump, it still trips. No sign of a leak. There are 2 sensors, along with a ground connection at the rear base of the drum, with the left one disconnected (black wire) it runs ok. What does this sensor do? could it be u/s? or could it be the circuit board at the other end of this black wire (visually ok) mis behaving? The sensor doesn't look easily replaceable. Any advice greatly appreciated...

My hoover optima washing machine is tripping my electricity supply. Have tried disconnecting heating element and looking for damaged wires.

Ian if the circuit breaker is a rcd it will trip off the supply if it
normally detects a very small leakage or unbalance of around 35 m /amps this could be a small water leak onto live parts in the machine or a minute short to earth on one component ,make sure all parts are dry / is it tripping when you switch power on to machine or does it trip when machine is in cycle mode.
1. its as first suggestion 2. it's a component like pump or drive motor that;s causing problem. hope this is of some help,g.luck

When turned on you can hear a buzzzing, like electrcicity going into the pmp then pump heats up and trips its saftefy switch. Motor does not turn.

I am assuming that this is not a brand new installation. If it is, go to http://www.femyers.com and download a manual for your pump.

If the pump has worked properly in the past, what seems to be happening is that the motor is locked up and the built in thermal protection is correctly protecting the motor. Or if by "safety switch" you mean the circuit breaker is tripping, then the following still applies.

The pump impeller may be jammed with debris, or the motor bearings may be worn out, causing the rotor to jam and stop rotating. Also a possibility - the seal between the pump and the electric motor has failed, allowing water into the motor and causing a short circuit which trips the breaker.

It is probably time to call the repairman, or replace the pump. Don't keep trying to turn on the motor; it will not fix itself and you may make things worse.

Remember, these pumps must be primed with water first before first use. Look in the Operating Instructions manual.

I have just bought a euroline 40 glass washer but it keeps tripping all my fuses when I turn it on I have tried different circuits but still trips

Possible there is short within the power board and so it uses more current than designed. You can remove the panel and check for short within the panel board. Check for visible damage to the board. It can be shorted surge capacitors, protectors or rectifiers. If not there can be damage within Also disconnect the motor drive , isolating the circuit and if the power does not trip you can check this circuit.

Whirpool ADG 7550.......my dishwasher starts and seems to run fine, but after a minute or so it will stop, shortcut and drip the fuse. thereafter it fuses every time I switch it on. can you pls give some...

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .rinse and then finally the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water.

Now since the washer trips after the start then it is possible that there is a short in the controller, the motor or motor drive or the heater. You need to disconnect the lines to the motor and heater to confirm if the washer starts back or the circuit does not trip futher.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

My washing machine is constantly tripping the electrics, it is about 4years old & was working fine yesterday.

Possible that there is a high drain on the circuit and so makes it trip when the circuit shorts. This needs a check with a elimination of the circuits. You will need to fist check the main motor and the capacitor for any excessive drain. check if there is any mechanical jamming of the drive which can result in the trip as the motor is powered.
Also it is important to check the main control circuit, check the input valve and the drain pump/valve. Disconnect one by one to confirm.

No heat in dryer

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If your dryer isn't working or isn't getting heated up, you'll need to check the following to be sure what exactly the issue is--

Blows fuses or trips circuit breaker —ELECTRIC Models:
• The amperage readings are at 240 volts. One line will be 24 amps and the other line will be 21 amps. The neutral line will be at 3 amps. If the above amperages are not present, then the house wiring, fuse box or circuit breaker should be suspect.
• Shorted heating element to housing.
• Incorrect wiring or a wire shorting to ground.
• Drive motor winding shorting to ground.

Blows fuses or trips circuit breaker —GAS Models:
• If igniter is not glowing, check for 120 V at igniter.
• Igniter harness may be loose and shorted to base.
• Incorrect wiring or a wire shorted to ground.
• Drive motor winding shorting to ground.

If it runs for a few minutes and then stops, then check for the following:--
• Empty dryer.
• Check motor spins freely.
• Lint buildup around drive motor.
• Low voltage present.
• Blower impeller blocked in blower housing.
• Drive motor - start switch contacts stuck closed.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

the power supply is not able to generare the particular temprature to heat the heating element as required.and so the pressure that gets exerted to genrate an extra heat blows down the fuse.
