Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Region Problem Hello, Im new to all this, but I need help. I bought myself a Japan version Wii for christmas - i didnt realise it was region locked and i was assured it would work in england - where i live. The Console itself plugged in fine in England with no need for an AC adaptor. The console itself is all in Japanse (which I expected and am fine with) but when i put in an english game it came up with a question mark and a lot of writing which frustratingly i had no idea what it meant. I want to know if there is anyway of making the Wii accept and run English games or where I will have to only buy japanese games. - if this is the case is it possible to buy games with a japanese setting but in English language? Thank you and i hope someone can help...

  • 3 Go to the "Nearest Location" tab and select "Change."
  • 4 Scroll to the bottom of the location list. Select "Choose from other regions."

  • 6 Select the location nearest you from the list by pressing the "A" button.
  • 7 Click "Yes" when prompted. If you wan to change the settings, click "No" and make the necessary adjustments.

Well i bought a game called 2k8 basketball here in philippines, but i bought my xbox on australia, then i tryed my game and it said, ( The disc's region code is incorrect for this consol ) so how can i...

Sorry you can't fix it. Most games are Region specific meaning that they are playable only on Xbox 360 systems from the specific region that you have. If you bought your Xbox 360 in Australia then it is likely PAL system and can only play Pal games.

"Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:

    * NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
    * NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
    * PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand"

If the game you have doesn't match with your Xbox 360 Region then you won't be able to play it. (but a few games are playable on multiple regions, check list below)

Check out this site prior to buying games to help identify which games that aren't PAL might be still playable on your system.:

Notice that NBA 2K8 US version is not compatible with PAL system. If you had bought the US version of NBA 2K9 then it would have worked.

that is because wii's are region locked. meaning if you have a US wii, but a japanese game, it will not play . same thing with european games. the three major regions are ntsc(north america), PAL( europe), and jpn(japan).

Where can i find the region code for a wii console bought in saudi arabia?

On the setup page (the wrench) There should be a number with a letter on the top right corner. The number is your firmware version and the letter is your Region code.

    U=USA NTSC, P=PAL, J=Japan NTSC.

    Good luck!

What region is the wii console?

if you click on the wii button on the main screen then click on wii settings a version number will appear at the top right , showing something like V4.1X X will be either E(europe) U(USA) j(japan) or K(korea) so if yours is U then your wii region is USA

Bought a wii game from the US to bring it to my niece in Bulgaria and it won't play the game on her Will that she has purchased in Bulgaria.

The Wii is region locked, meaning you can't play imported/bought games from another region. You must buy games in Europe. To confirm that the Wii is Europe region-locked, go to the system menu and look in the top right corner. If the number there has an E, it is indeed European.

There are ways to change the region on the Wii, but you have to purchase third-party software or modify the Wii in order to do this.

The easiest thing to do is buy the game in Bulgaria and return the US version.

    Nintendo Wii

Google "Wii Homebrew" and read up on this amazing work people have put so much time and effort on to make it possible to make your Wii region-free and play software Nintendo didnt design. You will have to check what version of firmware the Wii has installed. This is easy though as all you do is open up the menu and look in the upper right hand corner. It should say 3.2E for a PAL [European Wii], 3.2U for NTSC [USA, Canada, and Mexico], 3.2 J for NTSC [Japan]. If it says 4.0 then you will have to wait for someone to find an exploit because Nintnendo has fixed the access point [the way you can install homebrew and start it] in this version of firmware. Just google it and read up on it. Best of luck and hope you dont have 4.0.

How to change japan region to US region in PS3

No way to do this reasonably. It is in the Coding of the Motherboard. You will need a different motherboard. Now, you have an intersting situation. Your Japanese Version PS3 is Valuable. You can advertise it on ebay and get more for it. Then turn around and buy yourself a NTSC-U/C version. I know it takes time, but that is your best option.
