Question about Umax Astra 2000U Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

Scanner screen My scanner developed a thin green line down the left and a broader yellow line down the right; they both increased in width until I was left with a space only large enough to scan a postcard. I would let it rest after about three scans and could get the narrower bands back. Today I went to use it again, but this time the entire screen was dark green and, unlike the earlier banding, not even translucent. The lamp is on, no less bright than as new, and it moves as it should.

Printer is not printing yellow, Light Cyan, Cyan, blue lines through Light Magenta & Magenta, What could be causing this and it is also leaking black ink out of the bottom of printer.

Is it under warranty, are you re-filling the cartridges? If yes to first and no to the other two, send it back under warranty. If you use copy cartridges or refill old ones the warranty is vod. This means you need to replace the printer. To be honest, you'd be better off buying an Epson all in one. Even the wireless model start @ sound 40gbp and you can buy good copy cartridges from

Copies have a line through them.

First, clean the slit glass under the lid. There is a thin glass area on either the right or the left side of the large glass that probably has some gunk on it. give it a good spit shine and that should get rid of the line. If not, you probably need a new drum/cleaning blade combo.

Meaning a huge 2 inch gap is appearing on teh left margin, the content getting chopped. No matter if we increase the width and height of teh image also still the left side gap is appearing. and with other scanners the twain based program is working fine. we have downloaded and installed latest drivers from fujitsu site, tried from various machines various Os still the problem remains same. Any one observed this issue before? and this scanner can only be connected via USB no network option to use ethernet cable very frustrating. Raj

Getting a black strip in copy mode on X6575 lexmark printer. No line in print or test mode

Most likely a page was scanned with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page.

If this is your problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

Most Mustek scanners have a black inside cover on the lid, this can give a black line down the side of the job.
ether cover the inside of the lid with white paper or place a bigger sheet on top of the sheet to be scanned!

Scanned image has a line running through it

This could be one faulty sensor pixel or a speck of dirt on the scanner bar. It might be worth opening the scanner and carefully dusting the bar with a camera cleaner aerosol.
