I am 14 and was playing xbox live, it shut me offline and when i diagnosed the proble it said my mtu setting need to be at least 1364, how can i fix that?

MTU is the maximum size (in bytes) a protocol is able to send. Not super familiar with xbox but I would check under your network settings. Although I doublt the xbox will allow you to set this. So the next step would be to check your router settings. You will need the following
  • A PC or laptop
  • Ethernet cable
You will need a computer plugged in via ethernet into your router.
  • Open a browser and enter the gateway address in the address bar
  • You can obtain your gateway address by going to a command prompt and typing "ipconfig"
  • Login to your router (if you've never setup the router with a login it will probably be a generic login such as admin/, admin/admin, / or /admin
  • Look for your MTU setting, this is generally under the advanced settings
  • Set it to 1500 if it is not already.
Please comment with how the xbox is connected to your network as well Comment back if you need more assistance
Another cause of xbox live booting you is if someone logs into your xbox live account else where as xbox live only allows for one login at any give time.

I got a Motorola wired modem and it dosn't let me play xbox live why?

you may have to open a port that you xbox can use to connect to xbox live
    • 1 Connect only your Xbox and computer to the Internet. Disconnect all other devices. This is done to easily determine the Xbox's IP address, which is used in the Port Forwarding process.
    • 2 Open the Windows Command Prompt from the Start Menu. Click "Start > Run...," then type in "cmd" and hit "OK."
    • 3 Enter "ipconfig" n the command prompt. A list of IP addresses pop ups. Write down the IP address of your computer.
    • 4 Open your router setup utility through a web browser. Use the given directions from your router manufacturer to do so. Generally, the configuration page is opened by inputting the router IP address into the URL in the following format: http://123.456.7.8/ (where the IP Address number is unique to the router manufacturer).
    • 5 Open the "DCHP Client List" section of the router setup utility. This lists the devices currently connected to the Internet through the router, which is your computer and Xbox. Write down your Xbox's IP address (in this case, the one that is not your computer's IP address).
    • 6 Navigate to the "Virtual Servers" or "Port Forwarding" menu in your router setup utility. Most manufacturers have a side menu on their router setup utility, which is generally a section under your "Firewall" settings.
    • 7 Input the following port numbers and your Xbox's IP address into your router's port forwarding configuration:
      TCP 80
      UDP 88
      UDP 3074
      TCP 3074
      UDP 53
      TCP 53
Placing these numbers in the port forwarding menu opens up the required ports that your Xbox needs to connect to the Xbox LIVE network. Save this configuration.
    • 8 Start up Xbox LIVE to check your connection. If you have no problem connecting, then you have successfully forwarded the required ports.

I have a router with multipul outlets with 2 computers and xboxs 360 live ..can i have 2 xbox 360 live signed up to work at the same time..?

Yes you can run two Xboxes on LIVE at the same time, provided you have a separate LIVE account for each console, and different IP addresses for each Xbox. Assign static IP addresses for your xboxes from within the router's setup page.

I hope that helps.

Ip address for router for xbox live setup

If you have a computer hooked up to router, go to command prompt (Start - Run - cmd, then press enter), and type in ipconfig. The router's IP address will be the Default gateway address.

If no computer handy, most default router IP addresses are one of the following:
192.168.1.1
192.168.2.1
192.168.1.254

Dns failed when i tried to setup xbox live. i have a belkin router set up and my console is set up next to the xbox. what do i need to do?

Information on setting up port forwarding can be found at:

http://portforward.com/

If you want to go with a static setting this is what you need to do:

  • Login to the Router/Gateway by entering it's IP address in your web browser. (http://192.168.2.1)
  • On the left panel of the firmware page, under "Firewall," you should see a link "DMZ" for the Static IP configuration.
  • Your router should generate 25-50 Dynamic IP addresses for, choose a Static IP outside that range. (192.168.x.200)
  • Then go into your Xbox network configuration and set the IP address to the newly defined DMZ.
  • IP: 192.168.x.200 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (Primary DNS is the same as the gateway)

Change NAT to open

I don't have your Internet connection details or OS
so we'll start from the beginning:

1.Log into the router and under the Setup tab click on "Setup Wizard" then on the next page click on "Launch Internet Connection Setup Wizard" In step 1 leave the password unchanged and click next. On step 2 select your time zone. On step 3 this is important; select your Internet connection type. On the 4th step leave the Address Mode in Dynamic and enter the username and password supplied to you.

Once you have configured your Router to work with your Internet connection type, you should now get a Moderate reading when you do the Network test in the Xbox dashboard.

2. Now go here http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm and follow the instructions to setting up a static IP address on your computer.

3. After setting up a static IP address on your computer, go here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...x_Live_360.htm and follow the instructions. Something you should keep in mind which isn't mentioned on this page is, for each port you forward under the box that says "IP Address", don’t put the IP address of your computer, you put in the new IP address of the Xbox 360 which was one of the 5 that was generated from that link in step 2. What you are doing is giving the Xbox 360 a new IP address and that new IP address needs to forward these port numbers to the Router.

4. Go into the Xbox dashboard and edit the Network settings. Under Basic Settings click on IP address and set it to manual. Now enter in the new IP address you chose for the Xbox 360. The subnet mask and the gateway is the same as your computer. (You can find these by clicking start> run> type in ‘cmd’ then when the box comes up type in ipconfig/all

Under the DNS Settings it should be set to automatic and under Additional Settings leave them empty. Run the test in the dashboard and it should now be Open!

Play on xbox live via wireless

First your setup should be, wall (isp) > Actiontec DSL Gateway > Zyxel router > your computer

If that is already setup right, try the ip address of 192.168.1.1, some routers use this ip rather that 192.168.0.1

Hope that helps.

Xbox 360 live

- double check that your network cable is plugged in correctly on both ends
- verify the cable works by using it to connect a computer or other console to your network
- if using wireless adapter double check that it's plugged in to the rear USB port securely
- consider using the setup blade to reset your console and re-do the setup wizard again

THINGS TO TRY loadTOCNode(1, 'whattotry'); Direct connection with a modem only loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. If you are connecting to Xbox Live by using a modem that is connected directly into your broadband socket, your IP address settings are obtained from your ISP. Set your IP address in Network Settings to Automatic. 2. If you use a static IP address that you obtained from your ISP, you must manually enter this address in the Dashboard. Contact your ISP for their static IP address if you do not know it. If the IP is not static, continue with the rest of the troubleshooting. 3. Power cycle the modem. 4. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, verify that you have entered them correctly. 5. If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, do not use these fields in the Dashboard. Shared connection with a modem and a router loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Power cycle both the modem and the router. 2. Try connecting the Xbox 360 console to Xbox Live by using the modem only. This eliminates any configuration problems on the router. • If this setup works without the router, there is a configuration issue with the router. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 3. Verify that your router's DHCP service has been enabled. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. 4. The IP address that you entered in the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If your ISP requires PPPoE settings, try to connect with only the modem after you enter the PPPoE settings in Network Settings. • If you can connect, see your router documentation to configure the PPPoE settings correctly on the router. 6. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the devices on the network. Try to connect with only the modem and Xbox 360 console connected. • If this works, there is a configuration issue on the routers DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with a gateway device (combined modem and router) loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Make sure that the device is turned on. 2. Verify that there is activity with the blinking lights sequence WAN, ADSL, and Internet connected power. Note These names will vary from model to model. 3. Power cycle the gateway device. 4. The IP address that you entered in to the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard may be incorrect. Set your IP settings to Automatic. 5. If you are receiving an IP conflict error in the More Info section, turn off all the other devices on the network. Try to connect with only the Xbox 360 console on the network. • If this test works, there is a configuration issue on the gateway DHCP server. See the router's documentation or contact the technical support group. Shared connection with Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(3, 'whattotry'); 1. Verify that you can browse the Internet. If you cannot browse the Internet, Internet Connection Sharing is not configured correctly. 2. Power cycle the modem. If the modem does not have an on and off switch, unplug the modem from the power outlet. You cannot follow this step if you are using a USB modem. Instead, go to the next step. You must follow this step if you are switching the modem between the Xbox 360 console and a computer. 3. On the computer, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK. 4. On the View menu, click Tiles. 5. If the connection is listed as Firewalled, the firewall may have to be configured. See your firewall documentation. 6. Enter manual settings in the Dashboard for IP address, subnet mask, DNS address and gateway: • IP Address : 192.168.0.2 • Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 • Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Primary): 192.168.0.1 • DNS server (Secondary): 192.168.0.1If none of this works you might be banned. If you modded your xbox360 or for downloading game saves from the internet to boost you gamer score. You might be banned!
