1. Make sure there is no DVD in the player.

2. Switch on the player and press DISPLAY on the remote.

3. Key 99990 on the remote.

The screen will then show Regional 1 usa ect ok

It will not play dvds it says no disk

One of two things. Clean the player with a lens cleaner that uses fluid. Take some liquid car polish like "mothers" and put a drop or two on your dvd's, spread with your finger and buff off with a microfibre towel. If they still won't play, your dvd player needs to be serviced. That really is all you can do. Hope this helps

Hi, had my sony dav-s300 for 5yrs with no probs. now when i turn on the power it makes a very loud screeching sound even before i put a disc in which it doesn,t play.

thats about the time china was making really bad aluminum electrolytic capacitors .. look inside for capacitors with the top bulged up .. if you find one you will probably find several ..if so, replacing those will probably fix the problem ..

Wrong region

Hi , The reason for the error message is because your DVD player is set to one specific zone. The below procesure will open the DVD player to play all zones.
YOUR REGION AREA WILL APPEAR. PRESS "0" TO UNLOCK (OPEN the DVD player to ALL zones) ALL, THEN WAIT. INSERT YOUR DISC. Hope this helps. Let me know the status. Thanks, Mike

Technics sl-dv 290

I think your dvd is set to a different region. This might help:
1. Insert disk
2.Wait for 'no play'message
3.Immediately press stop
4.It wi go to chapter review automatically in about 5seconds time u should be able to press play and start the movie

Hope this helps

The HDMI lead only carries the video and audio from the HTS6510/05 to the TV.

The scart carries audio and video both ways.

Re-connect the scart lead and all will be ok.

N.B. When the HTS6510 is switched on, the TV will auto-switch to the scart input. You will then need to switch the TV to HDMI to get the benefit from the DVD upscaling.

Cant Read Disc

I have had a similar problem with new Movie DVDs' - I don't think the DAV-S500 can handle the new Dual Layer DVDs.

I put the DVD in my laptop and it read it straight away with no probs............

Dvd pauses

mY DAV-C770 has the exact same problem ...when watching a movie it will intermittently pause or freeze ...then continue. It will do this 20 or 30 times throughout a movie. I asked a tech at Sony for help and he told me the laser reader is out of alignment. The minimum amount to have the dvd player sent out and repaired is $200.00, and thats if it does not require any parts. with a new laser reader it will be about $400.00. Almost the same price as a new dream system. Not worth fixing. I used to think really highly of Sony - until now. Jackal
