circumference is pye times twice the radius or by the diameter

3.1417 X 6 ( diameter or 2 times the radius )= 18.8496

90 degrees is 1/4 of the circumference

18.8496 divided by 4 = 4.7124 cms

arc of 90 degrees =4.74124 cms

You can view this question as what is the surface area of the 13 inch round pan, and then with it being 2 inches deep, calculate the volume.

Surface area = pi * r ^ 2, where r is the radius of the pan

In this case, the diameter is 13 inches, so the radius will be 6.5 inches.

Putting it into the formula, we get surface area = pi * 6.5 ^ 2.

Because of BEDMAS, we have to do the square before we multiply.

Surface area = pi * (6.5 ^ 2)

= 132.7square inches.

To get the volume, we multiply this surface area by the depth of 2 inches.

Volume = surface area * height

Volume = 132.7 * 2

Volume = 265.4 cubic inches.

Good luck,

Paul

surface area

3.1416 times the radius of the piston squared

so for example if it is a 1" dia piston

that would make it 3.1416 multiplied by .5"squared which is .25" 3.1416 X .25 =.7854 square inches

This is a common way of specifying an electrical conductor. The wire is almost certainly round, and may have more than one strand.

XSA = PI * R^2 where R is radius, so a single strand of that XSA is 17.8 mm radius or 35.6 mm dia.

If the conductor has 10 strands, each is 100 sq mm and therefore 5.6 mm radius or 11.2 mm dia.

area formula is PI x r squared

that is 3.1417 times the radius of the circle squared

example is:- 3.1417 times 3 inches squared =3.1417 times 3x3=3.1417x9=28.279 square inches if you want to work back from a circumference measurement, the formula for circumference is 2 x PI x radius or PI x diameter

if you have a circumference of 12 inches then the dia is calculated 12 inches = dia x PI to get the diameter , divide the 12 inches by PI and that will be the diameter so that is 12 divided by 3.1417 =3.819 inches

now you can go from the first formula the radius is the diameter divided by 2 so the radius will be 3.819 divided by 2 = 1.909 inches

so applying the area formula it becomes 3.1417 times 1.909 times 1.909 =11.458 square inches

to find your answer simply substitute the dimensions in place of the example figures.in the relevant formula.

Circumf = PI x Dia

Radius = 0.5 x Dia = Circumf / (2 x PI)

Radius = 0.5 x Dia = Circumf / (2 x PI)

To find the surface area of a cylinder add the surface area of each end plus the surface area of the side. Each end is a circle so the surface area of each end is ? * r2, where r is the radius of the end. There are two ends so their combinded surface area is 2 ? * r2. The surface area of the side is the circumference times the height or 2 ? * r * h, where r is the radius and h is the height of the side.

The entire formula for the surface area of a cylinder is 2 ? r2 + 2 ? r h
