I assume that the full message is "Shutter release is disabled." The causes can be as follows:
1. The memory card is not fully inserted, or locked in place; or the write protect tab on the left edge of the memory card is in the protected position. A full memory card could also cause this problem.
2. You are using an automatic lens equipped with a focusing ring and you have failed to lock the aperture at the highest f-number by sliding the locking tab on the lens.
3. You are using a non-CPU lens, in which case you must rotate the mode dial to "M" and manually set your ISO, shutter speed and f-stop.
4. Your flash is not fully charged.
the flash pivot on the release side of the flash has a small cylinder that operates the flash up switch. If that cylinder is broken off or the pivot is pushed in so the switch doesn't close, then what you describe happens
pop up the flash and remove the two screws underneath, and you can pry off the cover - gently - to check the switch
Probable will not work on the Nikon's hot shoe because the contacts on the Sakar flash gun won't match the contacts on the Nikon's hot shoe. You can use the Sakar flash gun as a slave flash by connecting a optical flash trigger to the Sakar flash gun and use the Nikon's flash to trigger the Sakar slave flash.
There is no problem with the trigger voltage, which I assume is your primary concern. You may not get all of the features you would with a Nikon flash, but you should be able to use it with the D60 just as you use it with the N80.
Hi

Have a Nice Day
That is a problem that has to do with the Flash...make sure your flash settings are not turned on. If the flash can't find an image...it rotates and usually never finds the image. It's reading in a Flash mode.
Hello. When i first bought a D60, it was working perfectly outdoors at day and would work without a hitch with external flash.
However, the internal flash would never get released. No menu option would be of any use, only symptoms were flashing 'flash' and 'question mark' symbols in the finder.
NIKON service fixed it - There was nothing wrong with the camera electronics. The little flash release mechanism somehow acted up and NIKON staff fixed it in +- 5 minutes. I do hope you have yours in full working condition by now.
