Internet Explorer hangs when connecting through USB adapter

Hi. I really hope you can help. I have just installed a wireless G plus mimo adapter on my second desktop in order to connect to my Belkin router. My desktop is running on XP Home Edition and has Internet Explorer 6 SP2 . Everything works perfectly (including Outlook which downloads and sends mail perfectly every time) until I try to connect to the internet. I have set Google as my home page. This opens fine, but the minute I try to go to another web page, my computer hangs and I have to reboot the entire machine. I have tried EVERYTHING and can't find a solution. I have also purchased a networking cable and the internet works perfectly when I connect to the router using the cable. This would lead me to believe there is a problem with the Belkin USB Adapter. I have tried two others (!) brand new, out the box, and have the same problem. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

I would suggest that you go for full windows update and install all necessary update and patches for internet explorer and go for a updated virus scan with kaspersky antivirus if this doesn't solve your problem then go for oder free browser available like mozilla with google or opera they are free available for download on download.com!!

That's bizarre.
Run a full virus and spyware scan.
In IE, open Tools/Internet Options/ Connections and make sure the entries are correct-sometimes there are entries from previous connections.
Also open Advanced and Reset IE to defaults.
Under the General Tab, clear the temp files.
It's hard to call this an adapter problem when it works OK other places.
You might want to try Firefox-it's a better browser anyway, and if it works OK it suggests the problem is with IE:

No wireless connection

You need to have an Internet Service Provider. You connect the router to a modem from the cable Service Provider or through the phone line for BT. Then you can connect wired or wirelessly to internet through the router.

If you describe your set up in detail and tell me the Internet Service Provider I may be able to help more....

Check for the wireless encryption settings associated with this. If you're trying to join a network with "Open" settings to a encrypted network it won't work very well.

Periodic Lost of Conection

I experienced this problem before, what mine turned out to be was that when I configured the router to accept a passphrase the problem would appear it worked fine without the passphrase but this is not secure at all. I tried a few things, but nothing worked. I ended up getting a NetGear Router.

Hope this helps

Connecting to secure network

when enabling wireless security the router and adapter must be both be configured and configured in a fashion that both support. If you need help provide confirmation of your wireless router's manufacturer and model and the same information for any wireless adapters or computers with built-in wireless adapters to be wirelessly connected.

This will allow us to determine the common security options for all wireless devices you have.
