How to fix canon code E071

Here is an answer from DZJOLLA:
"hi there

well ive had years of experience on these machines and seen this error loads so ure in lucksmile.gif

1st off are u a tech? if not do not read any further as this post will only make sense to a tech.

i can only imagine this machine is old now. most of the time its the connectors that cause the e071 error. how many prints has copier done? have the connectors on the carraige frame and on frame of machine ever been changed? if not thats more than like causing your issue.

is your TD unit spinning ok? or is there resistence somewhere, if so this might also cause this error. the manual points to the 3 timing sensors in the TD unit IE. timing plates arent arriving on time for those sensors, but again everything relates back to the connectors as this is where it gets its voltage from. blow the sensors out as well.

change the connectors mate would be my 1st conclusion for that errorsmile.gif let me know how u go please...

the other errors arent even coming up in the manual which points even more to the connectors.:

Canon color imageclass mf8180c, Iam getting '' SYSTEM ERROR E071

I had the same error message E071. Had to call out an engineer who diagnose the Drum 701 was leaking toner - this got on the electrical contacts at the bottom of the drum. He cleaned the contacts on the drum and in the machine - put my old Drum in there and all is OK. The drum was 9 months old and not had much use so I am trying to get a replacement from Canon under warantee.

Canon MF8180c

E071 error stands for ITB position sensor fault,so you may try to check if the ITB belt is ok, if there is no paper left overs or similar, but this error can occure when the main board ( dc controller ) is defective.

E071 0003

E-071 0003: There is an error in the rising edge timing of the signal plate detected by the C sensor.
The transfer drum isnt rotating or the machine "thinks" the drum isnt rotating. Check for mechanical interferance and check the drawer connectors for paper and debris

As for the guest with the E-803 error, thats not really the same thing at all. I guess both error codes have a "3" in it but thats about all.
E-803: During operation the CPU does not detect a 24V output for 5 sec while the transfer unit, the left door, and the delivery door are closed.
Check the aformentioned doors and switches but most likely it is the power cut relay that is faulty. The relay is located on the lower left hand side beside the main power supply. The relay contacts become pitted and burnt over time.
