Yes , the same symptomes , A low-level batch-file (6.bat) written virus , my flash-drive got infected with @ a cyber cafe , the file was associated with an "Autorun.inf" file , i clicked the drive icon by mistake (am usually carefull about it) , the whole system got infected with the following symptomes :

Patition drives no longer open in the same window , they open in their own windows.

All hidden / system files / folders disappeared

Every time i try to uncheck the check boxes @ Tools-->Folder options menu , and then press Ok , nothing changes , hidden stuff are still hidden , and when i access the Folder Options again I see the check boxes , checked again as if i never try to uncheck them ...

Hello Friend..

Today we have a huge database of viruses across the internet. Most common is autorun.inf which directly attack to the folder option. It permanetly disable the folder option. None of a anti-virus have its defination to remove it. So i research for it and find the very good solution for it. Here is the solution.

1. Format your windows Drive which is C:\ Drive.
2. After installation don't install any item include drivers.
3. go to My computer--> Tools--> Folder Option now select the show hidden files.
4. Uncheck next two option Hide extensions for known file types & Hide protected opetating system files (Recommended)
5. Now click on apply and Ok.
6. Now open my computer in explorer mode by simply click on folder button near to search button.
7. select evey drive and delete files named autorun.inf, u.bat, microsoftpowerpoint.exe, recycle bin or $recycle bin.
8. After deleting from every drive just restart your computer and check your drive.
9. Now your computer is ready and free from that stupid viruses.

If you have any trouble in this solution then just contect me on [email protected] or [email protected] Enjoy with your work and PC.

I have a strage problem... my control pannel, my computer properties, folder option, task manager, command are not working . i believe it is because of virus. Is there any solution to get back all those in...

Hi' you're quite correct on your observations but the one you said to recover your system without re,installing a new OS is possible but it is a very long process and and it can be done through actual trouble shooting only, in the first place , it is commonly we install OS or re-format windows on PC is usually be in partition , Drive C for OS and Drive D for your personal files , so the very easy way is to re-install your new windows or let a professional pull out you hard disk and insert to another PC to gather and save your files to a safe drive before you re format your disk. I hope this little idea can be a big help to you and to everyone . . . . thanks

Will not format to full 1 gb it is a verbatim

Hi,

Ithink it could be due to virus activity. Some virus make the contents of thedrive hidden, that's why user can't see the files and the space available for use is less than thecapacity and also can not open the drive. It issuggested that go to FOLDER OPTIONS - and select SHOW HIDDEN FILES. It may showthe hidden files. If can not show ,hidden file (tools >folder option>view> check on show hidden file>check off hide protected and checkoff hide extension) now can see all hidden file in c drive. If not think...... For ensure again run>type> msconfig > hit can not open ms config if virus effected run >type> regedit>hit>can not open registry if virus effected run >type >gpedit.msc>hit can not open group edit policy if virus effected Otherwise, ifyou don't have any vital data on the drive, just format it in another pc.Pleasenote, before insert the Pen drive .Go to run command from start menu OR Press Win key+R and type gpedit.msc and hit>Usser configuration >system>turn off auto play >enable>use down arrow key select all drive >apply >ok. Control panel>administrative tools > service>select any word in right side and presss for select Shell Hardware Detection> d -click >use down arrow key>disable >start. And now can insert pen drive and format. Hope this wouldfix the issue and . Youshould fully scan by f-secure bootable cd or any another antivirus bootable cd.Just insert the disk and restart. Follow bellow the download link. http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA-Labs/security-threats/tools/rescue-cd you wouldbe able to enjoy the full capacity of the disk. Try to be sure follow these youshould delete partition and create new partition and format your all drive. Now install fresh O.S.
Hope this helps

My Powerbook G4 turns on light, fan, chime but no video.

Your hard drive has lost a file needed to start up the machine. The folder with the question mark means it cannot find a useable Operating system. I hope you backed up your files you needed becuase the only real way to recover the machine is to reinstall the OS from the install disk. You must format the Hard Drive from the format option on the install disk and reinstall the OS.

Windows xp pro will not boot with new hard drive

Its hard to tell just like this without having the computer in hand to check and test the jumpers and connection and all, but quick like this i think it might be a trojan virus that corrupted the boot sectors of the old hard drive, and when you copied the stuff from the old to the new, the virus followed and infected the boot sectors of the new one too. Try to reformat completely using the original windows install disk, and not the system restore/reinstall disk and reinstall windows after the format with the original windows disk again. If I was right, it should boot up OK with a fresh format and reinstall with the real windows CD, then install a virus scan and a spyware scan and scan and clean the old drive completely 2 or 3 times to be sure theres nothing bad left on it, then try to copy the whole disc, but skip the Windows repertory, the Program Files one too and the Documents and settings one also, cause those 3 are the ones most prone to corrupting a fresh install even if there is not any viruses in them. If it does not boot up OK after formating and reinstalling Windows though and says it's unbootable, then either there is a config error in the BIOS of the laptop, or the IDE controller that drives the disk is defective. If it's the BIOS settings, it's gonna be easy enough just changing the settings and won't cost you too much, and if its the IDE controller... then that's another story cause it's integrated in the motherboard like any other computer, so basically another computer will cost less than a new motherboard for a laptop. So if that is the case and the IDE controller is shot, you can still try to use an external USB drive to run the computer but not all computers support booting from the USB though, so before buying a brand new external drive, check the BIOS first to see if it does support USB booting.

Can't format my laptop cause there is a missing Temp Folder

Hello,

If you boot from an XP or vista install disk and select the option to delete the existing partition it should format ok. Be sure to not delete any factory restore partition that may exist on your hard drive. When you are at the partition delete screen you may see several partitions, just delete the one that is about the full size of your hard drive, any smaller one will be a diagnostics or retore partition. I hope this helps.

Doesn't show any files and folders when drive opened

Congrats, You got a nice virus. Its better you backup your drivers and data from ur root partition format it. reinstall your operating system and install avg 8.5 before browsing any of the other partition. I can surely tell u your task manager, registry editor or show hide folder won't be working. There is no permanent solution to this other than format. But beware don't browse other partition before installing avg 8.5. Your earlier installed antivir has given its way to virus its of no use. You won't be able to install antivirus or visit any malware removal virus site. welcome back.

Infeced virous make folde in a folder.exe

The virus is called "Brontok" or "Rontok". Its much hard to get rid of it. It may cause ur computer to restart while opening any anti virus, cmd.exe, command.exe etc. Only way is to san the drive from some other computer with an updated anti virus.
OR
Format driver with windows installation, instal windows, and install an anti virus before anything else ( do not open any drives except ur windows installation partition ) and get latest updates. Scan and remove virus.
