    Hi Niki,
Thanks for your input, but I have already done that. I don't think this is a software issue, I think it is a hardware issue, but thanks for your time and assistance.

You need to check to see if the dvd drive is set to digital playback because
it is probably trying to find your on board AC97 - 5.1 digital output. With
a music CD it doesn't have to be connected digitially because it uses analog
for stereo playback but most DVD's - if a movie - are set to playback in
digital. Open 'My Computer', right click on your DVD drive, select
properties, select hardware, highlight your DVD drive, click on properties,
then properties again, check- Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM
device.

I advice you to remove one driver and look whether the other is working. Check both the drives this way. Once you find them working, you can get back to your old system, that is, how it is now. This is not based on any logic, but it may work as your problem may be that your newly upgraded system got confused with the two drivers.

Yes you can when playing the DVD on a computer, there are softwares that switch your DVD-ROM region to suit your DVD and so you can play it, well before i give you links to the site providing such a software let me first check the legality of such softwares.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111d instruction manual

The manual likely is at the Pioneer website. But why do you need it? These drives stick in your computer pretty easily, and only function if you have a good DVD burning program installed. Did it come with an installation CD? Your burning program may be on that. If you run into trouble, just call Pioneer--they owe it to you.
