Question about Philips 9P5034C 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

My ''9P5034C102" 50'' Philips Projection TV

When it is on, and something with a white or yellow backround comes on, the left side of the picture bounces in and out 2'' or so, but usually only when these colors are in the backround of whatever you are watching. In other words the left side of the screen does not stay to the full screen on the left side. Any ideas on how i can solve this problem?

Common problem with the older projection Magnavox TV set. The opto IC chip has failed. Try - They have instructions and kits on their site.

Older 52 inch tv magnavox where screen is too bright or how to repair it

There two possible things based on your description.

Go to a channel that is in black and white and examine the picture--is it black and white or yellow?

These sets do have screen controls that can be adjusted but they rarely need it.

If the picture is yellow looking it could be interpreted as too bright.

If good black and white picture---stand back ten feet when you examine it---I can tell you how to adjust the sceen controls, not real easy but can be done with someone to watch screen.

I am here to help you and I have over 30 years experience with all kinds of TV sets.

Is black and white picture somewhat YELLOW LOOKING?

You're connecting to an HD connection that's why you are seeing the purple and green.

You should have 3 composite inputs, ie. yellow, white, and green on the back, and on the side in addition to the HD ones you are currently plugged into.

60" Projection Tv - Approx 6 yrs old

Your CRT fluid needs to be replaced. After many years the crt cooling fluid gets a ton of alage built up in the tubes.  This will cause the screen to get a halo effect or get darker.

You only need to replace the fluid in the blue and green tubes.

The source is E1, unless you are trying to display something froma camcorder or security cam.
Philips does not provide enough cables with this product - they only provide you one set with which to PLAY a movie. You will need another red, white and yellow cable with which to RECORD. If you have a cable/satellite box, connect a 2nd red, white and yellow cord from cable box OUT to Philips AV IN. Switch the SOURCE on the Philips remote to E1, and your TV to whichever source you have the original red, white and yellow plugged into. You should get picture, and be able to record now.

Yellowing screen off-center - not a convergence issue

You might want to try the optic lens adjustment screw on the side of each crt. Mark them before moving.
