You didn't mention what carrier you have.

For Verizon:

1. Go to "Settings & Tools"
2. Scroll down & select on "Initial Setup"

You will see a setting called "Backlight". You will be able to set it 5, 10 and 20 seconds.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the inapropriate vote, You never mentioned what carrier you had. Different carriers have different software in the RAZR. I was asking to help better understand your problem and help you troubleshoot your problem. If you didn't have Verizon, all you had to do was connet what carrier you had and I could have helped you further. That's too bad, I really wanted to help you. The solution for Verizon that I gave you was indeed the correct solution.

Sounds like you have had a display failure. You may look for a local repair shop. We don't repair the Razr V3 any longer.

My screen display no longer lights up--completelly black! Phone still can accept a message. Don't understand how to get the lighted screen back!

Since it is a flip phone i guess your flex is damaged or your screen is faulty. You need to first change the flex or check whether the cord is well connected.

Front cover display light

Check your settings. You might have the back light display as always on. If that dont work then try resting the phone.

Motorola V3 Razr Keyboard will not light up

Are you getting sounds from the dial pad? It should default to momentary lighting, but it can be adjusted for longer time. It sounds faulty, did you purchase a refurb?

Logo stays on outside display window of cell phone

I'm having the same trouble, and I've found it's because the v3 no longer recognizes the opening and closing of the phone itself. You see, when you close it, something is triggered that tells the phone to shut off the main screen and change the outer screen to the usual mode where it shows the time. You can also test this by trying to take a picture and closing the phone - the external lcd no longer doubles as a second camera display to easily take pictures of yourself. I dropped mine into the toilet, and I'm not sure if there's anything to do but take it to a tech. Sounds and looks like a hardware problem to me.
