You can try going into iPod Diagnostics
Just click and hold on the Home and Center button at the same time until the screen turns black, then click and hold on the Center button and the Rewind button (Left button) until something different than a iPod display comes out.

Hope this helps!

Compaq presario v2414NR, HD acting weird.

They probably never updated the bios, and it's still looking for the old drive, if you get into the bios, you can remove that drive that it's searching for and then make sure that the new drive is being recognised at the 0 position, not 1 but zero, if that doesn't fix it we can go further but that mnmay be the problem, also go into your device manager and make sure you remove the old drive if it's still showing that it is in there. Just uninstall it and restart. the cmos settings should also be cleared by removing the plug and poping out the battery, on the motherboard, it looks like a quarter, it may stll have the old settings stoed in there Good luck, and let us know if it worked

I use gparted tool to find it. Once you boot from the CD (with the .iso of gparted on it), you can access the tool to find the cylinder by right-clicking on the desk and select ???? sorry, I'm not sure about the name of the tool. So go to and download the program. If you need more help, let me know.

IPod will not start - hard drive making clicking noises

I had the same problem, took it to Apple store, they suggested I trade it in for a new one. With no other options, I opened up the ipod and found that the hard drive off center. I popped it back into place and it worked like normal after that. Opening your ipod will void the warranty. Hope this helps.
