Re: sad face on 80 gig cant restart

You can try going into iPod Diagnostics
Just click and hold on the Home and Center button at the same time until the screen turns black, then click and hold on the Center button and the Rewind button (Left button) until something different than a iPod display comes out.

Hope this helps!

My Ipod Video 30 GB shows a sad face. What do i do?

It looks like there is some kind of software problem with your iPod.
First, power up your iPod (showing the sad face). Try pressing the center and menu buttons at the same time, and holding it like this until the iPod shuts off (after about 5 seconds). This should 'force-restart' the iPod.
If this doesn't work, plug your iPod into your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod in the left-hand menu and click Restore. Note that all songs/photos/videos will be erased by this procedure.
Should this also fail, you can try leaving your iPod turned on (with the sad face), and wait for the battery to completely run out (the iPod should not turn on at all anymore). Leave the iPod unpowered for about an hour, recharge it, and retry the above steps.
Hope this helped,

Ipod 30 gig

I am going to say you have a loose connector or something in there. Possibly from the drop, or maybe just normal wear and tear. I had a friend who got the sad face before, and he figured he would have to replace it anyway so he let me open it up. I used a driver's license to pry the edges open and unplugged the drive and plugged it back in. Started up just fine, all music intact. I don't recommend doing that unless you know what is wrong with it, and how to fix it. This site could be helpful to you in buying parts and further diagnosis. Let me know how it goes.

Ipod shows sad face and folders

the sad face means there is a software / hardware side fault witch needs service.

Start with these five simple solutions: Reset, retry, restart, reinstall, or restore…

If they dont work you will need to send the ipod in for service.

My ipod shows a sad face

Hopefully your ipod is still under warranty, because this is indicative of a hardware problem.

You could try to force it into disk mode and do a restore, if that doesn't work then it needs to be sent in for repair.

IPod will not start - hard drive making clicking noises

I had the same problem, took it to Apple store, they suggested I trade it in for a new one. With no other options, I opened up the ipod and found that the hard drive off center. I popped it back into place and it worked like normal after that. Opening your ipod will void the warranty. Hope this helps.
