Jan 27, 2008

- how can i get a manual for this model? model VS5071

Jan 27, 2008

- was you able to find the link?

Jan 27, 2008

- 930b552 hopefully that is it.

Jan 27, 2008

- How do i pull the board? Just pull straight up or do i have to unsolder it?

Jan 27, 2008

- I don't have any capacitors. how much is a pip board? and how do i remove it?

Jan 28, 2008

- Okbut how much do PIP boards usually cost? And i am so sorry to be bugging you so much.

Jan 28, 2008

- So i hook up the capacitors to the pip board itself or do i hook them up to where the pip board connects in the tv?

Jan 28, 2008

- Can my tv work without the pip board at all? The last tech i talked to said i could bypass the pip board totally and since i dont ever use pip i figured that would be ok. I just need to know how to do it. If anyone can give me directions on how to do it i would appreciate it very much.

Clarification Request

You might have a bad PIP board, When you say NO picture. Is it totally blacked out or blacked out with "blue snow". The PIP has been alot of problems in this chassis and you will experience what your describing. Capacitors are the root of the PIP boards failure. Let me know if I can assist you further.

- I will post a link shortly where you can get one along with free support to hep diagnose your set, Just have to check if they have that Chassis. I will get back to you shortly.

- No i wasnt. am still looking thatsa hard model to find info on. It s simallar to the VZ2 from 1994 But VZ2 doesnt cover that model. Do you have a PIP board in that chassis? If so it should be on the left board with the cluster of boards standing upright. The smallest board. If you do pull tht board and give me the numbes off that.

- Here is a trick to bypass that module to see if your problem lies in that module cause both horizontal and vertical circuits pass through that module. Do you have (2) 4.7uf @ 50 volt capacitors on hand. Take the PIP board out. Those numbers you gave were the PIP. And on the connector where the module plugs in Jump pins7 to 9 with 1 capacitor +lead in 7 -lead in 9 take the other capacitor and jump pins 5 to 11 + lead on 5. - negative lead on 11. Solder a small piece of wire so the leads dont touch as the pass each other. Just push the wires from the caps into the connector. No need to solder then try to power up your set. Let me know what happens.

- The modle clips in to plastic sockets. There is two sockets and they each have a plastic retaining lock. Just pry the little clip away from the clip and pull the module up. I will check on the availability of the module for you. You may want to try the bypass just to make sure you need the module radio shack has the capacitors for about 1.00 each.

Jan 28, 2008

- depends on the availability between 150 and 300

Jan 28, 2008

- Thats how you bypass with the two capacitors they plug directly into the socket that you took the pip module out. Its the clip with eleven pin sockets.
