There is Integrated Marvell 88E8056 Gigabit (RJ-45 LAN connector) present in your motherboard of Aspire T180. What I could reacon from your question is that your Ethernet Driver is not installed. If you have the support CD then you can install it from there else you could download the driver fron the following site by selecting your desktop model. http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/family.aspx?c=2070 If you feel that my answer is helpful then please leave a vote
Collect ALL the drivers for ALL the devices on the PC, go to the web site below and download all of them and put on a Memory Stick. Install Windows on re-formatted PC, when at Desktop for first time. Copy the drivers over to a folder say :\Drivers then run the Installers one by one. Usually start with any Motherboard drivers, and Reboot, (always reboot between each install). next the Video card drivers, then the Sound and then anything else. Remember with anything USB, DO NOT plug them IN before installing the driver, & rebooting first.
RIGHT CLICK YOUR DESKTOP BACKGROUND.
choose PROPERTIES, SETTINGS
on left side at bottom there is a small rectangular dialogue box which allows you to select 16 bit, 32 bit, 256 colors, etc. choose 32-bit. REBOOT
also if you have an OFFBOARD VIDEO card you have to go to MFR website to download video card driver and resintall it. it is probably using default since there is no driver loaded for the video card.
If ONBOARD video you have to go to MOBO MFR and download CHIPSET drivers. download EVEREST HOME EDITION (last free version) 321 and RUN it. it will identify all chipset & mfr
