Question about 2wire HomePortal® 1800HW Router (1000400212000LNR)

1 Answer

Incompleted downloads I usually download huge files from torrent pages with no problem at all. When I try to do the same from Rapidshare -for instance- downloads stops before I get the 100% and never can restore again. From time to time (I don´t know how), I can download a file succesfully. This problem began some moths ago. Before that, I could download files all the time with no problems. I have try many possible solutions. I've been told that the problem could be in the router. I have a 2wire 1800HW, problems are present in all the computers attached. Any idea? Thanks a lot in advance.

Bypass the router and plug a computer directly into the modem

Cant play the movie that i doenload from torrent, something is appearing when i'm trying to play it like codec is missing u need to download it from

That's what we call a Fake Video which means it's a fake video which would temp you to download some codec or buy a codec and you'll be directed to their website, suspiciously a malware/spyware infected site etc.. Usually the file sizes of those files are of similar CD quality video size, but their length is less than a minute or so. Sometimes, they even tell people to buy a software to play which in fact never play. In other words, those posters and trackers are Spammers.
Don't every try to follow the given link. I guess you must be seeing a link in the video to get that codec. If you are a frequent torrent user, you better note the users comments and ratings before you begin downloading them.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I keep losing my connection while downloading torrents. everything else works fine, but when i'm downloading torrents the router loses connection after a little while

Chances are your ISP is slowing you down run the second test on the following post.

Google's broadband test tools are located at On that page, you'll see an first icon that says "Users: Test Your Internet Connection". Click that, and then you'll be taken to a page where there are three tests available, and two more listed as coming soon. However, out of the three available tests, only one of them is fully automated and easy to use.
Glasnost , second on the list, will check whether your ISP is slowing down (like Comcast) or blocking Peer2Peer (P2P) downloads from software such as BitTorrent. P2P apps are commonly used for downloading illegal software and media content like movies and music, but also are used for legal purposes as well, such as distributing large software packages to many users at once.
To use the measurement tool, you will be redirected to the Glasnost site. You'll need the latest version of Java installed, and you should stop any large downloads that you may have running before you begin the test. If you're on a Mac, a popup message will prompt you to trust the site's Java applet.
When you're ready to start, you can choose whether you want to run a full test (approximately 7 minutes long) or a simple test (4 minutes long).

How can I block *all* torrents traffic with a Cisco 5540 ASA firewall. It consuming too much bandwidth

Hi there,

Well you can use the torrent software to not allowing more bandwidth, just open the torrent software (utorrent, bittorrent etc....) right click on the downloading file then goto the bandwidth allocation menu and select low bandwidth, just do this with all of the downloading things......

Good Luck!!

Torrents Cause Timeouts on Motorola wr850gp

You need to set a BANDWIDTH limit on your torrents. Usually about two thirds you bandwidth eg if you had a 6mb connection set it for a max of 4 mb.

Many ISP's also throttle torrents to a point where it can stall out and cause issues elsewhere in a network.

If your torrent program has any stealth capabilities try setting those.
The terminology for that varies from program to program.

Help with Static IP address configuration

no need to set static IP addresses for the PC, i have been using UTorrent client with a laptop and used the laptop on different network, just set your torrent port to be dynamic, or let the torrent client find an open port everytime you use it (it is always under network settings / preferences).

if you have other questions just let me know, i'd be more willing to help out.

I also have some Belkin router but i never face any problem with downloading torrents.
test the port you use with torrent client, also if you have firewall go trough the rules there you may have to enable ports manually.
Try this site BitLet using this site you can download torrents without installing client.

Slow downloading

Hi, DL managers usually split the file into many pieces, but the DL manager tries to grab many pieces at once and often there haven't been enough Ports opened to allow for this so check that also. Sometimesya ISP don't like torrents anyway and restrict that those ports into and out of ya conection..
