Question about Whirlpool GEW9250 Electric Dryer

2 Answers

Auto feature When I place my dryer on any of the auto features the dryer is suppose to run until the clothes are dry and then turn off. What happens is that the dryer runs until the time gets down to between 8 and 15 minutes. The dryer keeps running, but the timer stays locked on that time. When I finally go check on it, the clothes are completely dry, and the timer still reads the same. The dryer will NEVER shut itself off on an auto mode. please help. thanks,

Re: Auto feature

If it shuts off too early, it's usually the sensor. If it won't shut off, odds are it's the control curcuit board -- about $150 on line or about $400-500 to have someone coume out and replace it.

Re: Auto feature

Faulty selector switch or control card. There is the possibility of a faulty moisture sensor. Can you operate the machine in manual mode ?

I was drying my clothes and the steam feature would not turn off. How do I turn off the steam feature ?

Hi friend, thanks for your post!

I understand that the steam feature on your Electrolux dryer is not turning off. I would recommend a reset and you can do that by disconnecting power to your dryer for ten minutes. I hope this helps. -Matt

Dryer starts fine after a couple of minutes shutts of, I have to restart it several times untill clothes are dry.

most dryers have a sensor that is supposed to shut off auto matic when clothes are dry look at your choises on the dry temperture. one of them usually have automatic whites auto colors etc. the sensor sounds like it went bad. most of them are near the exhaust measures the moisture level to test it remove the wire or wires. then try running the dryer for a little while.

Takes 4 ever to dry clothes. Will run & run when on auto dry.

If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle: The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees. When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.) The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again. This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But...if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

Hi, I have a Maytag dryer, model # mdg308daww Legacy series. It heats up just fine, dries clothes great but the problem I am having is that the Auto dry features are not shutting off as they were before....

you may need to replace the moisture sensor bars inside the dryer.also you may need to check the air flow if timed dry is nnot drying them properly

Automatic Dry Function Has Stopped Working

There is a humidity sensor which acts as an auto cutoff switch in most driers, as your load auto dries , it senses the change in humidty and kicks the power off. It is often shaped like a flying saucer with wire terminals on the wings. That is likely your culprit, generally located close to the element. Based on your description, I would start there. Also test a load on timed dry, but it sounds like that's your problem. Remember to unplug before looking under the hood. Post back if you need further info

Timer does not work in auto mode but does work in timed mode

Check the venting for your dryer. Most "auto dry" features are controlled by a thermostat that is in line with the timer motor. If you have a gas dryer especially, a clogged or obstructed vent will stall the auto dry feature. If you can provide the complete model number, I can provide more insight.
