Re: 27" sylvania stereo television

You have lost vertical sweep, the IC that controls this has a problem. it can be any thing from bad solder on the vertical IC chip to failure of the vertical IC or some support componets such as capacitors or resistors. Sylvania is a funia product and I've seen that cold solder is the more likely problem on these products. the IC is identified by the smaller heat sink and the markings on the IC as "TAxxx",TDAxxx",or "STRxxx". it usualy has 8 to 10 pins. if you are not a tech do not attempt this repair without help from a tech or have a tech do it.

Re: 27" sylvania stereo television

The problem you are having is a vertical deflection problem. The screen is being compressed to a thin white line. It's probably a defective vertical output module or transistor. This part is not too expensive. Less likely would be a vertical deflection coil, which would be more expensive because its usually glued to the picture tube and harder to replace. You'll need to take your set to service center to have it serviced.

Good Luck!

There are white thin horizontal lines across the top 2" of Toshiba 27DF47 TV. Can this be repaired and how much would this repair cost?

Check and replace all the electrolytic capacitors at its vertical output section circuit. There will be five or 6 of them. Replace all.

Horizontal lines accross the top of my TV they turn everything upside down when you look up on a video game like mountains and things and make normal Television fuzzy

the problem is in the Vertical circuit of the set, fold over and/or retrace lines at the top.

Problem will be either a bad vertical output IC or caps around it that are bad.

Unless you know how to solder and what to look for it will be a shop repair, if it is continued to be used this way sooner or later it will go to just a white line left to right in the middle of the screen.

Let me know if you need more information.

Horizontal white lines 27A43.

You have some bad capacitors. They are located very near and next to your vertical IC. I would guess you would have to replace maybe four of these! Thanks for asking!

Toshiba colorstream 27A33 TV

1.Are these lines only in the upper 1/3 rd portion of the screen? And is there a clear demarcation between this area and the lower portionb, where the image is perfect? 2.Or is thin Horizontal lines evenly spaced around an centimetre apart? If it is the first case, then there si a problem with your TVs SMPS. It is not generating the required regulated 110V required for the TVs functioning. If it is case 2, then there is a simple adjustment at the back - 'SCREEN'. This adjusts the Screen Grid Voltage, and by slightly lowering it, this problem will go away.
