HOW TO SCAN ON HP PSC 1315 (by 21 users)

How do I scan a document to my comp - I have absolutely no idea...
I have tried turning it on then pressing scan - doesn't work.
Tried pressing Scan when printer off - doesn't work.
Tried finding the printer program on my computer to see if theres a scanning option - can't find it.
It works fine as a printer or copier.
I am using Windows Vista.

Printer is working fine copying and printing, but I can't get it to scan. I press the button and the printer power light flashes on and off for a time, but nothing else happens. Tried turning the printer off and on, disconnecting it and reconnecting, and unplugging it from the power source.

Apprenticei have a Vista system and an old hp 1315. the CD driver that came with it includes some very useful software that cannot be installed in my laptop. according to the hp website, that's because Vista comes with a compatible software for my hardware. checking Windows Help & Support gave me this solution:
Open to Windows Photo Gallery, click File then click Import from Camera or Scanner.
i did exactly that and it worked!

Have you installed the printer software from the CD?
There is a program called HP DIRECTOR on the CD. Or you can download it from HP.
Once installed, an icon will show up on the desktop (HP DIRECTOR).
Open it and use the scan option. It will scan any photo or document into your computer for you.

HP VISTA and HP psc 1315xi not compatable. When I ordered it at the HP store they told me that it was.
HP admits that they are NOT compatable, but will not do anything about it

i checked the wires and there all right but it wont do anything about how to scan a document and then saving it in word help!

I do not know how to scan a document. I just need directions. I do not think that there is a problem with the HP PSC 1315 I just don't know how to scan.

My HPpsc 1315 will only copy and print since installing vista. The scanner will not work and I can no longer send or receive photo in email.
