Question about GE WBVH6240F Front Load Washer

5 Answers

WBVH6240HWW My wife just bought this unit this morning and had it installed by Lowes. She ran two loads through it on "Normal/Colors" and it worked just like it should. On the third load the washer will get down to 23 minutes left on the clock and then it will go back to 28 minutes and kept repeating this cycle for several hours. I pulled the plug and let it set for a few minutes (give the microprosser time to reset) and put it on drain and spin so that we could finish that load. The weird thing on "Drain/Spin" it would lock the door, unlock it, then lock it again at the begining of the cycle and then finish the cycle. I have no idea if this is normal or not. What's up with that?

I have the exact same issue. Although my first load wasn't even normal. I just bought my machine yesterday and ran my first load this morning. I had it on color/mixed... etc.. it started the timer and would wind down and then restart, I think it washed my clothes at least 10 times... I finally turned off the power button and then reset it to spin/rinse... it did the exact same thing as the wash cycle. IRRITATING. Its the weekend and I have a million loads to do and it's now 6 pm already on a sunday!!!!

My one month old GE washer does the exact same thing. The service man came out and said it is a very "sophisticated" washer and has to be balanced just right. He recommended loading only the same kind of clothes in each load - sweaters separate from jeans from pants, etc. That would mean 10 loads instead of 4! I use it in the speed wash cycle now which seems to work for most of my laundry. It also adds on time, but finishes in about an hour (instead of 40 minutes).

My GE Washer does the same thing, especially on color/mixed cycle. It repeats itself at certain times and it is always before a spin. I finally got a new washer from GE since after 4 times the tech couldn't find the problem and did everything he could think of to fix it. Guess what? This one is doing the same damn thing. I just love spending 2 hrs. doing and hour load. I guess I'm just stuck now and will never buy another GE washer.

Hi,
I would assume the load in the washer is a small load and the washer has a difficult time adjusting the load to spin. I would push pause, wait for the system to unlock the washer. Check the load for how much water in the garments. If heavy, the unit has a unbalance issue, just try to continue the load. If the clothes are light than unload the washer into the dryer. Was the unit ran on delay? This may be a non issue if the unit ran on a delay and just never finished yet.
Give those a try and get back to me, I and interested in the status.

Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. I would check the vent hose behing the dryer and make sure it is not clogged and also check the outside termination for being clogged up with lint and hair.

All front loaders have to be run thru a clean cycle with no clothes or soap atleast Twice a month. You can use bleach or buy one of the special cleaners they have for washers.

Pressure Washer quit running

I have owned four of those units. Every one of them did what you are experiencing or just wouldn't give me any pressure after only a few uses. The company was certainly no help. I gave up after four and bought a heavier gas model from Lowes. Hope this info helps.

Leaks on Delicate but not on Normal.

Appears to have been the drain holes below the rubber drum flange. My wife cleaned in there for the first time after our speaking to a lowes sales person who owns one as well. When I monitored the next "delicate" load with the front panel off and after cleaning, there was no sign of water anywhere. Hope this was the solution. My wife also mentioned the loads (on delicate) came out damper than the norm but this time it was much drier. Wonder if delicate cycle may fill the washer higher than the normal cycle.

As a footnote we mentioned an occasional musty smell would occur and the same sales person said to not only leave the front door ajar but also open the soap drawer. When I checked the service manual I noticed the unit has a vent hose which vents into the soap drawer. All makes sense when you consider a front load is much tighter sealed than a top load.

At Lowes you can purchase foam rubber pads 4"X5" pack of two for $3.50. If walking forward and after cecking level and washer pads are tight, place half of one pad under each of the two front feet. Place the sticky side against washer feet. Solved my problem.
