It sounds like software. Plug it into I-tunes and try to reload the OS back into it via restore mode. Keep inmind that if its unlocked, your firmware will be updated to 1.1.3 and RELOCKED. If you run into any problems bring it to the applestore and they should exchange it on the spot.

Screen frozen

Try a hard reset first. (menu and on/off button together for 5sec) if it boots again, but then doesn't repspond touch sensor screen needs replacement. Take it to the apple store and see if they'll give you a replacement. If they don't there are third party iPhone Repair Services that can fix it for you. There are also free iPhone Repair guide that show you how to fix it yourself.

Iphone 3GS- only get the apple loading screen.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond
  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

Turn on phone, apple logo but nothing else.

Press and hold them for a minimum of ten seconds. If this doesn't work, try using ITunes to do a restore.

My Iphone Screen is black with White strip at the bottom of the screen. It is not showing any options on the screen. i tried pressing both buttons simultaneously. It reboots but again the same problem....

If a hard reset (presse menu and center button together for 5 sec) and software restore doesn't cure it and there is no way to remove that issue by pressing or twisting the iphone at all, you have a broken logic board. There is an iphone repair website that shows you how to do the replacement yourself and a third party iphone repair company that can do it for you.

Screen is lit, but blank, no apple and does not respond to anything but turning it off and on.

Have you tried this? Hold down the 'Home Button' now also press and hold the 'Power Button'. Keep holding down both. It will prompt to power off but ignore this. The I Phone will reboot and do a reset which will not lose any information stored on unit. Once you see apple logo release buttons and it will take a few minutes to load up and hopefully everything is back to normal? It clears most common software faults which can occur if unit is continously on for long periods of time. Hope it helps.
