1 Answer

Internal connections I have a Compaq 7594 motherboard, wich i had put in another case. I have everythibg running, but following the MiTac 6513WU manual, i messed up with front case cables ( light, switch..). Thanks 2bob, i had connected it properly, but i didn't find the signal ground, so i connected the white wires to the case.

The only problem is that front USB ports doesn't work, i could meter the voltages, and i have 5Vcc, but signal.

Respect the processor, wich is the maximun i can put there? I had installed the original Win98, but it comes in spanish ( i'm argentinian), but i'd like to have an english version. What could i do?

    Yours, Lucas.

Ok for the front cable lights etc. Usually the HDD is place in the left corner. You should see the letters HDD somewhere if it's in a different position. Usually the Power LED light go in front of it away from you. All the lettering on the cables should all face you. The power switch is the most important that has to be placed only in the alloted position. If this is plugged in wrongly then nothing will work. At least with the other 2 we mentioned earlier they only have lights working on the front of your case. They're just cosmetic really.and the reset switch will have it's own position too. With the USB ports There should be only 9 pins. One row with five and the other with four. The one with no pin should be to your right. There should be two cables with VCC1 VCC2 D-1 D+1 D-2 D+2 and ground . Usually the colouring for the VCC is red. They go from left to right. VCC then the negative then the positive and then the earth or ground. There should be a spare pin left and the other shouldn't have a pin at all so 8 pins are covered. Lets hope this all works for you. Note some of the lettering i used may differ from what lettering you see on you motherboard.

Trying to find wich two or more wires from wiring harness turn on power supply for a compaq presario 7594

In ATX PC power supplies, here is the wiring scheme:

Green: PS-ON (+5V)
Gray: PWR OK (+5V)
Purple: +5VSB
Blue: -12V
White: -5V
Orange: +3.3V
Red: +5V
Yellow: +12V
Black: Ground (AKA Common)

Use a paper clip to connect the GREEN wire and a BLACK wire. There should be a black one right next to the green. This is how I test PSUs before and after I repair them. Now it should be running, assuming there are no internal problems.

You can also connect the GRAY to ground with an LED. Not necessary, but I like to do it ;)

No Sound....

The drivers on the HP site are for Windows 98, Me. Try the drivers off the ESS site. Find the appropriate Allegro driver for Windows XP (or try each of them). Good Luck.
