No dial tone unless on speaker

i have the cd440 phone. the speaker works great but when its on the receiver i can not hear a dial tone or anyone talking. the phone is only a few days old. it came with two phones and it's the 1 phone that is doing this. #2 phone works fine.

- thank you for your help. i am not sure how to check if the handset is registered.

- When I pick up the receiver there is no dial tone nor does it pick a line. There is only a dial tone when I place on voice...I have no speaker phone! How do I get my dial tone back on the receiver and it pick automatiocally a line?- Guest

- Hello I bought a used handset to match my base. Phone works only if it is on speaker phone incoming or out going calls. I did de-register and re-register the handset to the base.

Suggest you check battery in non working handset is connected and charged. If this is ok, suggest you check this handset is registered with the base station, as out of the box they arent always set to the same channels
