I just received my phone today in the mail which I purchased through Ebay. I attempted to turn the phone on, it turned on once, then by accident I turned it off and it will no longer turn back on. My friend has the same phone so I have tried his battery in my phone and it didn't work. However, my battery and his battery both worked in his phone. So basically my phone won't turn on. any advice?

I guess you have factory reset the phone and it swap out everything.
G1's much-vaunted first step during the setup is to enter your Google
login username and password. Once that happens, the G1 attempts to
connect to Google's servers to get your email, contacts, and calendar
set up. Here's the thing, though, if (or when) the G1 cannot
connect to the servers, you're done. There is no way to exit out of the
Google setup screen, no clear way to reset the phone to bypass it (even
in "safe mode"), no way to turn on WiFi.
Take the phone back and get another one. This is a store queen. Bad manufacture maybe. You should be able to keep the phone on long enough to upgrade system. Also, the numerous reboots might be from a short in the on/off switch. Either way I would get it replaced.
I have a g1 phone I do not like it I have posted a request about my phone. I am thinking about putting on ebay. I purchased the phone for $179.00 I have only had this phone 2 months. If you are interested in this phone email at email@example.com Please read email that I posted today

if your on a plan ur under warranty with blackberry take it back and there policy basically replaces the phone.
It sounds like the device was originally activated and worked with a Blackberry enterprise Server, where the administrator had voice calls blocked for the users, so that they did not run up bills - in other words, it was programmed just to do email. If this is the situation, there may not be a solution available to you.
Call your phone carrier and ask them to help - make sure you have the correct "plan"...
