Question about Toshiba 27A44 27" TV
The "no sound" part worries me, but the board may have bad solder connections in the vertical section or simply the vertical deflection IC is bad. No sound may be the result of not being able to know you are on a correct channel. Usually when this happens, the bad solder connections are very obvious. I don't have a service manual so I can't direct you. If you do choose to inspect the board, unplug the unit first and note that CRT TV's commonly hold charges before you go touching around inside, if that worries you then don't do it. Most vertical IC's are straight in-line pinned, inexpensive, and when they go may take a load resistor with them so look for burnt/scorched resistors, possibly even a cap that's blown it's stuffings out. You should have or know the basic theory of TV process or you are just hoping for a magic fix and shooting in the dark.
