Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

WLan / broadcom hardware disappears

Anyone ever hear of the problem with HP DV6000 ( may be because of the bios critical update)
My wireless connects intermittently depending on the device manger finding the hardware in the network adapters part of device manager.

Someone told me the bios problem is what causes the hardware not to show up
There is a patch on HP's site...but they have been no help...and who the heck has time to send it in for service.
The wlan light is on red, so i know that it works.....just not detected
I cannot find the hardware to uninstall and then reinstall

Anyone else out there with the same problem? or a solution?
Desperate!

Thanks
marc

    Thanks for the response.

I tried doing that yet the broadcom did not appear in the list in " add new hardware"

it may be a bad path or fix from HP

Bios is not pickingup the hardware

i have an hp laptop dv6000 series. it seems my wlan hardware disappears and reappears at will. i can be hours without being able to detect the hardware and then it just comes back. any ideas what causes that. i have updated the bios and driver.

same deal here. Hardware is no longer even recognized on computer.

After a Proprietary Vista Upgrade of my dv6140 laptop, wireless all of a sudden disappeared, I restored original XP thinking it was an upgrade glitch in the Vista upgrade provided by HP after I purchased. Unfortunately, wireless adapter did not reappear. HP techs are not helpful, try to imply I don't know what I'm talking about..and have not been forthcoming to say this evidently is not unheard of., so I'm at least glad I'm not the only one out there having this problem.

  • lddyson Nov 23, 2008

Okay - not only can I not get my wireless to run (and the orange/red light is on), I cannot get my web cam to operate - (This device cannot start. (Code 10) - "Click ' check for solutions' to send data about this device to MS and to see if there is a solution available"

    Thank you (for any solution)...

(Originally from BEBEJAZ)
Here's a quick fix for a HP DV6000 that can't connect to the

internet, no network adapter detected in device manager problem:

not long ago, i also experienced this problem
my "HP Pavilion DV6308NR" with Vista OS is not connecting to the

internet
and the network adapter is not found under device manager.
Even the HP Wireless Assistant is not working.
I turned it on but my laptop still says it's disabled.

after a month of turn off, wait for 5 minutes and plug again routine.
I decided to look into the system configuration and here's what I

did:

1. Restart PC
2. Enter "Setup" by pressing <F10> as soon as you see the HP logo

on you screen
3. Go to "System Configuration" by pressing the left button twice
4. Go to "Boot options" by pressing down button 4 times
5. Press Enter
6. Go to "Internal Network Adapter Boot" by pressing the the down

button 3 times, then check if its DISABLED (of which in my case

was)
7. Then press <F5 or F6> to ENABLE it.
8. Lastly, Press <F10> to Save and Exit, then Select YES.
9. After that, PC will continue its boot process and make sure

you're Wireless Assistant is switched on.

And Viola! I can connect to the internet again!

I cannot take credit for this solution as I found it on-line through a forum similar to this one (it could have been this forum). Anyway, the solution to my problem came from HP. Before I provide the answer, I have to inform all users who think that the "red" or "orange" light is an indication as to whether or not their wireless is working - it is NOT - the light need to be blue.

After contacting HP, I discovered my PC did not see the software and it was required that I return my PC for a "free" repair. I returned my PC over the Christmas holidays and it was returned before the end of the year! HP came through for me, and to date, NO PROBLEMS!

Here's what you do, go on-line and find "HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement" to determine if you are entitled to an update on your PC. I hope this information helps because forums like this helped me to get a "new" PC. I decided to go on line to find the site link for you:

When you say the hardware does not show up do you mean in device manager? Try reloading the device by adding new hardware and selecting the device manually thereby forcing it to see the driver.

My gateway laptop cant connect to the internet. _When I plug a cable, the red light in the port does not respond _ The WIFI does not respond

Hello John,
It seems that: 1. Your LAN controller and the WiFi controller could be disabled in your BIOS setup. To re-enable them, if applicable,
  • Press the F1(or F2 ) key repeatedly after restarting the computer to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate through your BIOS and locate the settings for LAN conroller and wireless, and select Enabled to enable them.
2. You may not have the appropriate drivers installed on your laptop for your network controllers. Upon further investigation, your laptop runs on the following network hardware:
  • ActionTec IEEE 802.11b network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94306 IEEE802.11g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94300 IEEE802.11a/g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
Download and install your drivers for the hardware above from: Wireless Drivers(Broadcom BCM94306) from http://www.soft32.com/download_175098.html Broadcom BCM94306 10/100Mbps LAN drivers from http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php
Hope this solution helps.Good day.

HP Pavillion wireless won't work

First, look thru HP Health check and download all recommended.
Second, go to HP site, download and reinstall WLAN driver and HP Wireless assistant software
Third, download at the same site HP WinFlash BIOS Update and update BIOS (READ and FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY)

Reboot.
If you are lucky ;-)  WLAN will now works - try to switch it on by WLAN switch.

Wireless Broadcom 802.11 problems

Hello hskaggs,
At this point you have tried the various troubleshooting procedures and have determined that the wireless card is faulty. To save yourself alot of time and effort, I would advise you to buy an external wireless adapter and disable the faulty internal one. Yes, it is a pain but going through this routine just to connect is not ideal.
