Question about HP LaserJet 1000 Printer

1 Answer

Vertical lines My HP laserjet 1000 series started leaving a vertical line down my paper 2 1/4" from the left edge and the line itself is about 1/8" wide. I have ran a cleaning page, cleaned everything the HP site says to clean and it is still there and getting worse. It started out as a vertical line on the last 3-4" of the sheet and has steadily increased so that the line now runs from top to bottom of page. I can find no answers for this - I have tried a new toner cartridge and I use HP brand cartridges. Please help!

Re: vertical lines

Hi there you will have either a faulty transfer roller (Which would be the cheapest ) or the other thing is the fuser unit is worn and damaged. You can change this unit to check open the rear door and look at the two rollers the one on the top is the heat roller if worn or ripped replace but sometime there is no visible sign so best to try the transfer first then the fuser 99.9% sure.

Thanks J

HP m410n laserjet pro banding gray vertical lines

the two places to look is transfer roller and the fuser unnit.
i think there is a problem with the transfer roller it is under the toner and it needs to be spring loaded. The paper passes between the toner an the transfer roller to charge the paper en let the toner stick to the paper and if it doesn't make correct contact then it wont work

Hp lasject 4050a toner cartridge have black line in the paper

The vertical lines can be caused by a damaged fuser assembly. The fuser heats the toner and melts it onto the paper. The roller is covered with teflon and when it gets worn down it leaves streaks or "ghost" images on the paper. Here is an article dealing with the lines on a Laserjet 2100 printer but the cause is the same for the 400 and 4050 series printers. Check your fuser as per the information in the above article and if need be order a replacement fuser from somewhere like Amazon.

L have an HP2420 with the usual line down the left side 1.5 inches from the edge. I cleaned whatever I could see and it is less but still a faint line. We don't have high volume, use only HP cartridges...

Run a "half test". Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1). Print anything. Watch the paper. When it gets about 1/2 way into the printer, open the top cover. Remove the toner. Look down at the paper. Do you see the "usual" line? If yes, replace the toner cartridge. If no the fuser is probably bad.

Printing thin black lines the length of my color pages, HP laserjet 3800

one question......
do the lines go off the edge of the paper?
if so either the black drum unit or the belt has gone bad.
if the lines stop before the edge of the paper it could be on the print job itself.
go through the menu and look for demo pages or the configuration pages to print and examine them.

Marks down left side of copy

There are several things that could be causing this I will TRY to address or suggest on all of them.

1.) If only appears when copying, double check the glass and make sure those areas are cleaned.

2.) If happens at all times, it could be the toner cartridge in the unit (especially if started when just changed). I would try another cartridge (later if you can stand the copies w/ the lines or if you have a spare).

3.) I have seen a lot of these machines do this putting vertical lines down the side of the paper because the fuser assembly has worn out and needs replaced.

I have seen #3 occur sometimes when paper gets jammed in a machine and someone pulls it out too rough, this can cause the slick cover over the fuser to crack, break, or bunch up, needing replaced.

Hope this helps you.

The line was not a crack in the glass-as I thought it might be.

However, I cleaned the two sides of glass with piece of clean kitchen roll and it is clear now!

Hp LaserJet 3015 Printer.

is it wavy? if so then it is either the toner cartridge or the fuser unit (heat section) I would go for the fuser unit as the hot roller that makes the toner stick to the paper is only a plastic film. Have you noticed any gray pieces of plastic coming out?

Hope this help you and you can get these machines repaired also please rate me
Cheers J
