Its a papertray where you have to add the paper:

Seeing the printer from frontside you have to pull the dark-grey halfround handle to take the papertray out.

Light flashes next to "check printer cartridge"

Check Paper Light Blinking
Figure 1: Check Paper light blinking At the start or in the middle of a print job, the Check Paper light begins to blink. The unit will not print. If the unit is connected to a computer and the HP software has been installed, one of the following messages is displayed:
  • There is a paper jam (or misfeed). Clear the jam and press the Enter, Resume, or Okay button on the hp psc.
  • The unit is out of paper. Load more paper and press the Enter, Resume, or OK button on the hp psc.
If both the Check Paper and the Check Print Cartridge lights are blinking simultaneously, or if the computer message is The print cartridge carriage is stalled , click here for troubleshooting information . Step 1: If the unit is out of paper, load more paper
  1. Move the paper guide out, load the paper, then adjust the paper guide. Make sure the paper is flat in the tray. Figure 2: Load paper
  2. Press the On/Resume button. Figure 3: On/Resume button
If the unit is loaded with paper and the light is still blinking, go on to the next step. Step 2: Remove jammed paper from the rear of the unit
  1. Unplug the product.
  2. Press the tab on the left side of the rear access door and remove it. Figure 4: Unlatching the rear access door by pressing the tab on the left
  3. Remove all the jammed paper and foreign material. Pull the paper slowly and gently to avoid tearing it or damaging the print mechanism. Avoid touching the internal components.
  4. Replace the rear access door. Put the pins on the right end of the door into the holes on the right side of the rear access area. Then snap the door shut. Figure 5: Door pins in product holes
Step 3: Check the front of the unit for jammed paper
  1. Open the cartridge access door in the front of the unit. Figure 6: Open the cartridge access door
  2. Pull out any jammed paper or other foreign material you were not able to remove from the rear. Pull the paper slowly and carefully to avoid tearing it or damaging the print mechanism.
  3. Close the cartridge access door and plug the product back in.
How to avoid paper jams
  • Only insert paper into the paper tray until it meets resistance - do not push it farther in.
  • Make sure the paper is flat in the paper tray and the guide is adjusted to the width of the paper.
  • Do not add paper while the unit is printing.
  • Remove printed pages frequently.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too slick, or that stretches.
  • Do not use torn or creased paper. Paper that has been printed previously may cause jams.
  • Make sure the rear access door is securely fastened.
  • If you follow all these guidelines and still have frequent paper jams, you may need to clean the paper rollers.
Cleaning paper rollers
  1. Turn off the unit, then unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the rear access door. See the picture above.
  3. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water. Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way around. Figure 7: Paper rollers
  4. Allow the rollers to dry completely, then replace the rear access door. Put the pins on the right end of the door into the holes on the right side of the rear access area, then snap the door shut.
  5. Plug the unit back in and turn it on.

Paper is jammed in the back-- can't figure out how to get it out.

Hi

Please turn off the printer and unplug it from main power. To remove any stuck paper, you'll need to open the rear door of the printer. The back part/door can be removed. After removing this door, check for any jammed paper. Close the back door and open the front door of the printer (from where you can see and change the cartridges). Now check for any paper jammed near or under the carriage. Remove any paper jam if any. Check for small bits of paper as well.

Now turn on your printer and check.

Paper jams using nextech premium photo pape gloss finish

  1. Before you do anything else, turn the printer off and on by following these steps:
    1. Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button.
    2. If the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is not installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord. Wait about 10 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
    3. If the optional HP Photosmart Internal Battery is installed in the printer, unplug the printer power cord, if it is plugged in. Open the battery compartment cover and remove the battery. Wait about 10 seconds, then reinstall the battery. If desired, plug in the power cord.
    4. Turn on the printer. The printer checks for paper in the paper path and will automatically eject the jammed paper. Press OK to continue.
If the error still occurs, go on to the next step.
  2. If the paper came part way through the front of the printer, gently pull the paper towards you to remove it.
  3. If the paper did not come part way through the front of the printer, try removing it from the back of the printer:
    1. Remove the paper from the In tray, then push in the catches to release the in tray. Figure 1: In tray catches c00256377.jpg
    2. Open the In tray to a horizontal position.
    3. Gently pull the jammed paper to remove it from the back of the printer.
    4. Before you lift the In tray to close it, make sure it is pushed all the way to the right on its hinges. Figure 2: Pushing the tray to the right before closing c00256378.jpg
    5. Lift the In tray up until it snaps back into paper-loading position.
  4. Open and close the pen door on the front of the printer to make sure it is securely latched. Figure 3: Opening and closing the pen door c00269435.gif
How to avoid paper jams
  • Make sure that the cartridge door on the front of the printer is securely closed.
  • If you experience paper jams while printing, try loading one sheet of photo paper at a time. Insert the paper as far as it will go into the In tray.
  • Do not add paper while the unit is printing.
  • Do not use paper that is too thin, too slick, or that stretches.
  • Do not use torn or creased paper. Paper that has been printed previously may cause jams.

Printer paper is stuck in printer

There is a door at the back of your printer. Open it. Now there is a lever on the side which releases a second door. (It swings open from the top back.) Once open, you should be able to remove the remaining bit of paper.

(BTDT, had to figure it out the hard way.)

My paper keeps jamming

Clearing paper jams Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons but are usually paper related. Follow the steps below to clear the paper jam:
  1. Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord. With the power off, the paper feed rollers will turn.
  2. Open the rear access door of the all-in-one by pressing in on the left side of the access door and then pulling it toward you. NOTE: All paper jams must be removed by pulling the paper out the back of the all-in-one using the rear access door. Pulling the paper out the front of the all-in-one rotates the paper feed rollers in the wrong direction and can lead to additional problems. Figure 1: Rear access door c00101861.jpg Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door.
    • If under warranty, contact HP to obtain a replacement part.
    • Click How to buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  3. From the rear access door opening, gently pull the jammed paper free.
  4. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray. Do not continue to push the paper in after some resistance is felt. If the paper is pushed in too far, more than one page will feed into the all-in-one at a time.
  5. Reattach the rear access door by inserting the two pins on the right of the door into the holes for them (as shown in Figure 3 below) and then pressing in gently but firmly on the left side. Figure 2: Inserting the rear access door guide pins into the holes c00099183.bmp
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.
