Question about HP LaserJet 3100 All-In-One Printer
Do you if there are companies that design print drivers for older printers? HP has no intention of manufacturing a print driver so I can run my printer on the new OS. If I can get a driver to run my printer can I set up the this printer as a "shared" printer and print wirelessly without a physical connection?
It doesn't work in share mode either...It prints the pages incorrectly. I have the hp3100 connected to my xp pc and my vista laptop connects to it via printer sharing on my network. the xp prints fine but the vista doesn't print ok due to lack of driver support for it.
I have to resort to print to pdf and then take the pdf to my xp for printing. Its a half *** solution but if anybody out there made his/her own driver please post.

You're right about the printer not being supported in Vista. Maybe you can try the XP drivers? Sometimes they work well.
About sharing your printer:
Yes, this is possible and more easily done then you might think. Just rightclick it (if you get it installed), select Sharing... and enter a share name for it.
Then on the computer you want it to be available, add a network printer and make it look in the workgroup your in.
Make sure your PC's are all in the same workgroup. You can change the workgroup when rightclicking the Computer icon and go to Properties. In the screen that pops up, click Advanced System Settings on the left. Go to the tab: Computer Name and click the Change button. Over there is a field which allows you to enter the name of the workgroup. Make sure all PC's are in the same workgroup.
Also make sure your computers both have Printe Sharing enabled, to enable:
Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
If the driver isn't supported it might get difficult to make it work. You can always try drivers from similar models (HP ones). Drivers are often based on each other.
I hope this helps, please rate my solution.
