Re: Help me

You need to download and install the drivers for the computer. You can download the drivers for each piece of hardware from dell's website:

Windows doesn't detect a properly installed network driver

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down network adapters + expand Ethernet driver if you see a yellow ? ! question or exclamation mark or red x means you need to install/update driver right click to install driver

the driver could be on the motherboard disk or the one supplied by your ISP internet service supplier or you might need to download it
hope one of these will help

On a computer that DOES have Internet access,
access the manufacturer's web-site:
and select "Dimension" and "8250".
Select the device-driver for the NIC.
Download it.
Copy the download to a CD-recordable disk, or to a USB memory-stick.
Move the copy of the file to your Dell.
Run the software to install the device-driver for the NIC.

I use to use a netgear wireless network adapter on my Dell Dimension 3000 which i no longer use. I plug the LAN wire from my netgear router (which is working with multiple other appliances) and it doesn't...

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

somewhere along the line you turned off the on-board network card. you should goto the network settings and remove the netgear wireless as you network connection, and run connection manager again.

My monitor works fine but there's no picture and the tower is on.

you have a memory problem,

  • If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module (see Installing Memory), and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  • If available, install properly working memory of the same type into your computer (see Installing Memory).
  • If the problem persists, contact Dell (see "Contacting Dell" in your Owner's Manual).

In July 2005 we bought a Dell Dimension 3000 office computer and right from the start we could not connect to the internet or our network. Dell offered no help and just said "reinstall Windows"! Finally,...

Sorry about that here is what you need to read.....

You can set the NIC to On (default), Off, or On w/ PXE. When the On w/ PXE setting is active (available only for the future boot process), the computer prompts the user to press <Ctrl><Alt><b>. Pressing this key combination causes a menu to display that allows you to select a method for booting from a network server. If a boot routine is not available from the network server, the computer attempts to boot from the next device in the boot sequence list.

Reinstalled Windows XP no ethernet card

It seems that after re-installing windows you have missed the Driver installation for your hardware. If you have a disk (which reads Drivers and Utilities) that came with your computer, You can insert it in your CD Driver and select the Driver for Network adapter. If you do not have a disc, you can always visit the Dell's support site and Get the drivers suitable for your hardware by selecting the model or Entering the Service Tag of your Dell computer.

For your convenience I am providing below the link for Drivers for Dimension 4700 Desktop PC as you have mentioned.

Dell 4700 Computer Integrated NIC Problem

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.

Lemme know if this helped!
