C/n choose WPA2 encryption on printer. When attempting to enter wireless passphrase on printer, the special characters in my passphrase aren't available on the printer.

Instead of WPA encryption use wep ecnryption. It will give you a choice of 1-4 links that you want. If this does not work. Press the reset button and try again.

You could do it that way I guess, but the easiest way that I could think of is by getting on the hardwired computer that is directly connected to the router to get on the internet, once on the internet, in the address bar, type in this: "192.168.1.2". And if it gives you an login page, both the user name and password are both blank, unless changed other wise. The on the left-hand side, go to advance settings, then click on "expert". Once there, go to security, should see a passphrase and generate key, channel numbers. You then type in your passphrase, and should be a generate button, and that is your network key, depending on the coordinate charts.

Hi

That's not a lot of info to go on, but let's try: first, you've got to set the router up for the WPA encryption and put the passphrase in there. You have to do that set-up while you're connected by wire to the router otherwise you'd lose the wifi connection half way through the process. Once the router is set up, do the matching thing on your computer, switch on wifi, and disconnect the cable from your computer to the router. Get back if that's what you'd already done and let us know what stages worked and at what point it fails.

My router not connected

Did your phones work with that router before?
Did the wireless get turned off on your router? Can your phone see the router but cannot connect or does connect but no internet.

Some newer devices do not support WEP encryption if you phones have never connected but can see your wireless router you may have to change to WPA or WPA2 encryption to getthe phones to work, but older versions of windows or MAC OS may be unable to connect using WPA or WPA2, If you are using windows xp only sp3 can use WPA older versions will not work with it nd have to use wep.

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Hi do you know how I can connect my lap top to the internet wireless with my linksys wireless router ? the lap top asks for an access code and I do not know what it is or how to find it do you know how to...

The access code or password is the encryption key in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the laptop/computer to connect to this wireless router.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

I am trying to connect a lap top and its asks for encryption key where do i find this key

The encryption key is configured in the wireless router settings.

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

Router wireless

Do you have the router setup to provide either WEP or WPA encryption? If so, you will need to provide that Encryption key (think password) for your SSID (the wireless network you connect to).

If you then can connect to the router, but still can't get on the Net, you may need to go into the Advanced settings of that particular wireless network (Windows XP - open Available Wireless Networks, and click on the last item on the left Advanced Settings - then click on the 2nd tab - Wireless Networks - pick your network in the box at the bottom, and change one setting from "Open" to "Shared". You should then be able to connect properly.
