My Inglis by Whirlpool washer doesnt spin. Its a Direct drive unit so Im guessing that the clutch is bad?

does the motor run when its supposed to spin? if not its probebly a lid swich problem. if the motor runs it may be a coupler or poss. cluch. sometimes a sock in between the tubs.

If you have a direct drive washing machine you need a new motor coupling. Do a search online with your make and model number and see if you have a direct drive washing machine. The motor coupler is 2 pieces of plastic and a rubber gasket. Its about a $20 part and depending on how mechanical you are, should take about 30 minutes to fix. There are a lot of website and videos showing how to fix step by step. Do a search online like: How do I replace my motor coupler on a MODEL NUMBER. Good Luck!

I have a inglis that is 5yrs old but will not spin they say my machine is drict drive it will was and drain but will not spin on any setting ... thanks.... townie

This is usually caused by the motor coupler. This is very inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a video this will walk you thru this disassembling and replacing a motor coupler in a direct drive machine. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for your specific model to get diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

Machine will not spin out water, does this machine have a belt driven drum or is it direct drive? found under unit what was thought to be rubber material on floor

depending on the model you have it can be either or.
if you can lean the machine back and take a llok under neath you might be able to see the motor and the drain pump might be attached to the front of the motor. look just behind the motor and you should see a black rubber piece with two white plastic pieces this is a drive coupler and if it is broken then you need to replace it

It wont rise or spin.

you probably need to replace the direct drive coupler on the motor shaft. easy to do, not expensive either.

Sounds like a whirlpool or inglis type belt drive with a loose belt or bad basketdrive[clutch].
Could be the set screw backed out on the basket, thats a pretty common problem.
I'd need a model number to know who made it though.

Dry-spin doesn't work, because after rinsing the clothes are still wet. MOD- VBXR1070WOWW SER-SZ107967H

I'm assuming this is a G.E. brand because of the model number. Take the four screws off the very bottom panel of the front of the washer. Inside you will see a twist off rubber cap. Place a pan under it big enough to hold 2 quarts, and twist the cap open. When the water comes out and it is empty remove any accumulation of lint, loose change, etc. This should be done monthly to help the washer discharge the water on spin cycles.

Also, inside the door is a flat rubber ring. At the bottom pull the flap back. There are small holes there for the water to drain out. Lots of stuff accumulates there too, even as large as a pocket knife or ball point pen. Check that daily when washing.

Not sure if manifold is leaking

Leaks water...check the pump first. The fill valve and hoses may be the next step. See how to take apart info. With the use of plastic drain hoses on many machines today, this has become a common leak trouble maker. The drain hose can rub the wall or a pipe and this will rub a hole in the drain hose.
