Question about Canon PowerShot A530 Digital Camera

2 Answers

No power The camera will not turn on. We have replaced the AA batteries, still no power. This is my son's camera and while out of town he used it quite a bit. He said the camera was warm while using the video option. He quit using it, but was unable to get it to turn on. Is there something else we can try?

It will say low battery or will not turn on

If your camera uses AA batteries, you should note the battery type your camera support, and many cameras only support Lithium AA batteries or Alkaline AA batteries, else there maybe note enough voltage, so the camera will note low power. If your camera uses special camera batteries, and maybe you should replace it for a new one.

Tip

Digital cameras

Travelers should use cameras with AA Batteries Digital cameras come in two varieties: those that use AA-size batteries and those that are powered by proprietary lithium-ion batteries. If you are a traveler, particularly someone who enjoys remote or rustic locations, choose a camera with AA batteries.
When a camera that uses proprietary batteries runs out of power, you have no choice but to plug the battery into a power outlet to recharge it. This requires an available outlet, a battery charger, and, if you're in a foreign country, a power converter. If access to an outlet is ever in doubt, or if you don't want the hassle of carrying cords and chargers, then the limitations of this system are obvious.
When a camera that uses AA-size batteries runs out of power on a trip, you can simply throw out the old batteries and drop in a new set of high-performance AAs like the Energizer E2 Lithium line. Two or three sets of such batteries can usually take you through a 10-day trip. If you're out of high-performance batteries, you also have the option of using standard alkaline batteries, which are available anywhere in the world, and make a cheap and convenient source of backup power (though they only offer a fraction of the life of high performance batteries).
Recent trips to Asia and Africa have borne this theory out—after my companions' cameras had been sidelined by dead batteries, I was still happily shooting away with my AA-powered Canon PowerShot.

My camera won't stay on. Has a Internal memory full message.

This sounds like that you need to delete some images on your camera memory. You can try hooking the camera up to your computer and downloading the pictures to your computer or removing the memory card and using another memory card. You were not specific on what camera you have so some of my suggestions my not apply to your camera. Regarding the power problem try to replace the batteries if it uses conventional AA with digital AA batteries. Not all AA batteries are made the same because digital cameras require a lot of power If it uses rechargeable battery then try to recharge the battery.

Good Luck

I get no power when using fresh AA batteries or charged (Ni-MH batteries). Camera works fine when using AC power adapter.

Hi,

Please make sure that you're using the LR6 AA sized batteries and also the terminals of the batteries are correctly inserted. Also make sure that the terminals of the battery compartment is clean without any obstacles or dirt. Also, try power reset and check if it helps.
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
If the issue persists, try the factory resetting. SETUP MENU-->RESET ALL--> OK
This should resolve the issue.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Where do you put 3 AA batteries in the Disney Pix Click Wizards of Waverly Place digital camera? I can only find location to put 2 AA... and camera will not work.

  • They all seem to go in the same place. - some only seem to use two - this one uses three

The camera is powered by 3 AA batteries. Only use the battery specified by the manufacturer.
  1. Lift the rubber USB interface cover on the bottom of the camera and gently press the lever to the left.
  2. Lift the faceplate off completely and place it to the side of the camera.
  3. Insert the batteries using the battery polarity symbols (+/-) as a guide.
  4. Replace the faceplate by gently placing it back on the camera body.
  5. Replace the rubber USB cable connection cover on the bottom of the camera.
  6. Turn the camera on by pressing the Power button. To turn the camera off, press the Power button again.
  7. Note: If the camera is not used for one minute, it will automatically shut down. To restart the camera, press the Power button.

Camera turns on for 2 seconds or wont turn on at all.

There is no hardware reset on this model. We have many situation on different make digital cameras that uses AA batteries that would not turn on with some other AA batteries due to Amp requirement on the batteries. Which means that some circuit design would work only with rechargable batteries because they have more power due to higher Amp power. So I would try rechargable batteries for the last resort. -James

Hey bray598,
According to the manufacturer this camera comes with AA alkaline batteries so unless you bought defective batteries the ones you purchased should work fine. I would make sure the batteries are inserted properly, and make sure when you turn it on the battery cover and/or the memory card cover are closed. I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Allan

How can I increase battery life?

Transferring images from the camera to the computer requires a lot of battery power. It is recommended to use the AC adapter when transferring pictures to conserve battery life. If not using the AC adapter, make sure your batteries are fully charged and use the highest possible serial speed when connecting the camera to the computer. After transferring your images remember to shut off the camera, otherwise the camera will remain "awake" and will continue to wear down the batteries. The LCD display also uses much battery power and should be used sparingly when trying to conserve power usage. Battery life can be improved by using AA sized lithium batteries, rechargeable AA Ni-Cad batteries, or rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries instead of AA sized alkaline batteries.
