Hi, I have a Compaq Presario 50000 PC Desktop and would like to replace the hard drive with one that will hold more and run Window's 7. What do I need to get and how much does it cost. the hard drive

If this is the system you are talking about the issue is not about the hard drive ..the main problem with it is with the other components..It is a very old desktop ..and it ran windows 98 I think ..and it only has a 700 mhz cpu ..and a very small ram memory ..
On the memory it came with ..you can not run windows xp ..not talking about windows 7 or vista..
To run windows 7 or Vista in a computer ..the main concern is the cpu (processor ) it needs to be over 1G ..but to actually work it neds probably more..over 2 G ..and the minimum ram memory required is !G (1024 mb )Yours only have a 64 or something like that ..Even if it has more...by specs..it can never run 1G on it ..cause it uses an antic memory type ..
The hard disk itself would be enough ..I think it has 30 G or 40 G ..and to run one of these operation systems you only need about 15 G for a start ..
In short ..if you ever want to run at least windows xp on it ..you need a faster cpu (if you can get one in this socket ) and larger ram memory ..but in this conditions I think is not worth..probably would be best if you fins a second hand board and replace it ..and run something usable on it ..and use it just for small tasks like browsing the internet ..

I have aemachine w4620 with 80g hard drive and 1g memory, can i upgrade my hard driveand will it takemore memory?

Max memory is 2GB. The stock hard drive is an 80GB ATA/IDE type, 4200rpm - larger ones are available in 100G, 120G, 160G, 320G, and .. I believe 500G. So the answer is: both can be upgraded or, more precisely, replaced with higher capacities.

It will work with windows 7 but it is suggested that you upgrade the ram also to atleast 2gb.

Seems like your graphic card is not supported. Its a older version. My first solution would be update your driver for your graphics card: http://driver.wareseeker.com/download/visiontek-radeon-9250-agp-8.072.rar/1e97d07a01 or http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/VISIONTEK_RADEON_9250_AGP/4-172246-1.html

If that doesn't fix it (which I don't think it will), you might just have to buy yourself a better graphics card and/or computer.

Greetings..I just purchased a lexmarx series 3600-4600 i have win xp sp2.. and with 254 MB I get a message installing the driver i need 512MB. Is there a driver to allow me to use this without bogging...

Hi dhunting2000,

I am afraid that you are going to have to upgrade your memory on your computer to use that printer. (There is not any slimmed down versions of the software available), I personally recommend upgrading your computer to 1G of memory to give Windows XP (and the printer software/and other applications) some breathing room for best performance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the performance gain that you will get with 1G of ram versus 512M.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Michael

Power problems

Hi,
My boys love WoW. I would too if I had time.
It probly is one of a few things.
First, is the ac adapter the correct one for the laptop? Very important it isn't undervoltage.
Next, check for any driver updates from gateway, especially, acpi power management, video driver, and you might want to see if you have the current bios flash.
You are using the ac adapter while playing, right?
When running off battery, laptop power management cuts cpu speed and fan speed, which could creat a problem.
Hope this helps, let me know if not.
Good luck

SATA Drive

How large is the drive? Windows XP pre SP2 will not recognize a drive larger than 120G when loading from the cd. You will need to use something like Partition Magic to partition and format the drive into 100G partitions, install the OS (it may not see more than the first partition) and upgrade to SP2 and it will see the entire drive.
